INTRODUCTION
Lao Family Community Development, Inc. (LFCD) is a community development non-profit agency established in the City of Richmond in Contra Costa County in 1980. Today Lao Family has expanded its operations and service footprint to two additional counties including Alameda and Sacramento. LFCD’s headquarters office is in Oakland, CA. It delivers programs and services from 7 locations in 35 languages. The agency provides community development real estate facilities and a diverse array of workforce, education, and human services that directly support predominantly low-income US-born high-barrier families and individuals, refugees, immigrants, transitional-age youth, seniors, and other special populations such as individuals with disabilities.
Job Summary
Lao Family is seeking candidates with leadership experience to join our team as a Program Coordinator for our Refugee programs. The Program Coordinator is responsible for supervising the day-to-day programmatic operations and administrative tasks of the program. The Program Coordinator will be required to perform duties such as overseeing staff, evaluating the program's effectiveness, monitoring program goals and ensuring successful completion, preparing and submitting timely reports, organizing events, overseeing and developing new Operating Agreements made with community partners, and assisting in the preparation of grant requests and funding continuation. This position reports to the Program Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for the recruitment, outreach, training, and case management of eligible clients.
- Supervise and manage program staff & services in Lao Family’s Sacramento Offices.
- Supervise all program’s intake eligibility, verification, obtain all required documents, orientation, assessments, workshops. Perform tracking of participants, input data, short-term case management, and job activities into a database system for record-keeping, and provide a follow-up service till successfully existing from the program.
- Oversee the maintenance of case records, statistics, and services recorded for project reporting purposes. Provide complete, accurate, and timely information needed for grant reporting and to report to management. perform tracking of participants, input data, daily log, monthly case notes, and all other activities in country and funder-specific databases.
- Oversee intake and orientation sessions, interviews, one-on-one and small group counseling; develop case plans, and referrals.
- Outreach into the community to provide program information, attend resource fair to recruit eligible refugees and promote program; create flyers and promotional materials.
- Be actively involved in the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accreditation compliance and help accomplish the goals and objectives of the agency's strategic plan.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, psychology, or a related field. If no degree, then a minimum of 2 years of experience working with vulnerable underserved communities, including but not limited to BIPOC, unhoused, immigrants/refugees, and justice-involved; Supervisory/management experience is highly desired.
- Attention to detail, ability to perform under a high level of stress, problem solver, strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, mature and full of integrity, detail-oriented, and ability to operate as a team player.
- Understand and uphold all Lao Family policies as outlined in the Lao Family Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Preferred candidate with experience and training addressing the needs of vulnerable populations.
- Experience working with a large, diverse workforce of people with different cultures, backgrounds, opinions, and levels of English proficiency.
- Ability to write documentation and maintain detailed, statistical records; write employee reviews and other associated documentation.
- Demonstrated commitment to the provision of services for the underserved and sensitive working with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic, and cultural origins.
- Compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations as they pertain to the position, including sexual harassment, Mandated Reporting, Scope of Practice, OSHA, etc.
- Use respectful language, practice confidentiality, and provide services to the best of your ability and without prejudice.
- Must have excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity.
- Able to travel to different office locations on a need basis and have a flexible schedule on some evenings and weekends for events.
- Valid California Driver's License, clean DMV record, and proof of current auto insurance and registration; must pass a background check. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
