Get your credentials evaluated before applying
CGFNS or an equivalent credential evaluation is a prerequisite for international nurses seeking U.S. licensure. Complete your New York RN license application through NYSED before your first interview so Maimonides HR isn't waiting on you to clear a basic eligibility hurdle.
Target Maimonides units with chronic staffing demand
Critical care, med-surg, and emergency departments at Maimonides run high patient volumes year-round. These units are where international nurse hires tend to cluster, so focus your application and networking on roles in those departments first.
Clarify which visa category the offer covers
Maimonides sponsors multiple visa types for nurses, including H-1B, TN, and immigrant pathways like EB-2 and EB-3. Ask HR directly which category applies to your role, because EB-3 PERM filings have long DOL processing timelines that affect when you can actually start working permanently.
Browse open Nursing roles at Maimonides using Migrate Mate
Maimonides posts nursing openings across multiple departments at different times of year. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Maimonides Medical Center nursing jobs that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're applying to active roles rather than outdated listings.
Prepare for USCIS specialty occupation scrutiny on nursing roles
Nursing H-1B petitions occasionally face USCIS Requests for Evidence challenging specialty occupation status. Collect evidence that your role requires at minimum a BSN and involves clinical complexity beyond generalist care, such as ICU protocols, specialized certifications, or charge nurse responsibilities.

Find Nursing at Maimonides Medical Center JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Maimonides Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for Nursings?
Yes, Maimonides Medical Center sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying nursing roles. Eligibility typically depends on the position requiring at minimum a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and meeting USCIS specialty occupation standards. Not every nursing title will qualify automatically, so confirm the visa category with HR before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Maimonides Medical Center?
Applications go through Maimonides Medical Center's careers portal. You can also find their active nursing openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which removes the guesswork of identifying which listings are open to international candidates. Before applying, make sure your New York RN license application is underway and your CGFNS credential evaluation is complete.
Which visa types does Maimonides Medical Center commonly use for Nursing roles?
Maimonides sponsors H-1B visas for specialty nursing roles requiring a BSN or higher, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nurses who meet NAFTA-listed occupation criteria, F-1 OPT and CPT for nurses in eligible training programs, and immigrant pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for permanent residence. The right category depends on your nationality, education level, and the specific role.
What qualifications does Maimonides Medical Center expect for sponsored Nursing positions?
For most sponsored roles, Maimonides expects an active New York RN license, a BSN at minimum (required for H-1B eligibility), and relevant clinical experience in the target department. High-acuity units like the ICU or emergency department typically require prior experience in that specialty. BLS and ACLS certifications are standard prerequisites across most nursing titles.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for Nursing roles at Maimonides?
H-1B processing runs four to six months under standard USCIS timelines, with an October 1 start date for cap-subject filings. EB-3 PERM cases through the DOL can take one to two years before the immigrant petition stage even begins. TN status for eligible Canadian nurses can be obtained at the port of entry, making it the fastest pathway when applicable.
