Align your credentials to healthcare service standards
Maimonides operates under Joint Commission accreditation standards, so certifications like CBET, CHFM, or HTM credentials carry real weight. Organizing these into a clear credentials packet before applying shortens the employer's vetting process significantly.
Target department-specific openings not just general postings
Maimonides posts Service Tech roles across biomedical, facilities, and environmental services. Applying to a posting that matches your specific technical background, such as biomedical equipment or HVAC, improves your chances of clearing the specialty occupation threshold for H-1B.
Use Migrate Mate to filter active Service Tech roles
Not every open position at Maimonides gets flagged as visa-eligible on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to browse current Service Tech openings at Maimonides Medical Center that are listed with verified sponsorship support.
Clarify CPT or OPT authorization before your first interview
If you're on F-1 status, confirm whether your program authorizes CPT or OPT for hands-on technical roles before you reach the offer stage. Healthcare facilities like Maimonides require E-Verify compliance, so your authorization documents need to be in order upfront.
Ask HR about LCA filing timelines early in negotiations
For H-1B transfers or new petitions, USCIS requires the employer to file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting the I-129. Ask Maimonides HR when they typically initiate this step so your start date is realistic.
Prepare for a technical skills verification step before offer
Maimonides often includes a practical or scenario-based assessment for Service Tech candidates alongside the standard interview. Documented evidence of hands-on experience with hospital-grade equipment strengthens both your candidacy and the specialty occupation argument for your visa petition.

Does Maimonides Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for Service Techs?
Yes, Maimonides Medical Center sponsors H-1B visas for Service Tech roles. The key requirement is that the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it typically requires at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a specific technical field. Biomedical engineering and facilities management roles most commonly meet this threshold at hospitals like Maimonides.
How do I apply for Service Tech jobs at Maimonides Medical Center?
You can apply directly through the Maimonides Medical Center careers portal, where openings are listed by department and location. For a filtered view of roles that include visa sponsorship, Migrate Mate indexes active Service Tech positions at Maimonides and surfaces them alongside sponsorship details so you can prioritize the right openings before applying.
Which visa types does Maimonides Medical Center commonly use for Service Tech roles?
Maimonides supports several visa categories for Service Tech hires, including H-1B for specialty occupation roles, F-1 OPT and CPT for students in relevant technical programs, and TN for qualified Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible occupations. For candidates seeking permanent residency, Maimonides has also sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Maimonides Medical Center expect for Service Tech candidates?
Most Service Tech roles at Maimonides require either a relevant associate's or bachelor's degree in a technical field such as biomedical engineering technology, electrical engineering, or facilities management, or equivalent hands-on experience. Industry certifications like CBET or CHFM strengthen your application and are often necessary to satisfy the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B sponsorship.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take when joining Maimonides as a Service Tech?
For H-1B transfers, the timeline depends on whether premium processing is used. USCIS standard processing runs several months; premium processing currently brings adjudication down to around 15 business days. For new H-1B cap-subject petitions, you'd need to be selected in the annual lottery, with employment starting no earlier than October 1 of the fiscal year. OPT and TN authorizations generally allow for faster onboarding.
