Align your credentials to device manufacturing standards
Medtronic operations roles often require familiarity with FDA-regulated manufacturing environments. Before applying, make sure your resume reflects experience with GMP, ISO 13485, or medical device quality systems, since these signal readiness for regulated production settings.
Target roles tied to active production sites
Medtronic's largest U.S. operations footprints are in Minnesota, California, and Puerto Rico. Roles at active manufacturing or distribution sites are more likely to have defined headcount needs and move faster through the offer and sponsorship process than corporate-support positions.
Clarify sponsorship eligibility before the first interview
Ask the recruiter directly whether the specific role is eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. Some operations positions, particularly shift-based or technician-level roles, may not qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria, so confirm early rather than late in the process.
Understand how TN fits supply chain roles
Canadian and Mexican nationals in supply chain or industrial engineering roles may qualify for TN status, which doesn't require a lottery or long USCIS processing. Confirm the specific occupation category applies to your role before accepting an offer structured around TN.
Build your F-1 OPT timeline around Medtronic's hiring cycle
Medtronic's operations recruiting tends to ramp up in early spring for summer and fall start dates. If you're on OPT with limited authorized months remaining, apply early enough that an offer, LCA filing, and H-1B petition can be submitted before your status expires.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsored Operations openings
Operations roles with visa sponsorship aren't always labeled clearly in job postings. Use Migrate Mate to filter Medtronic operations jobs by visa type so you're only reviewing positions where sponsorship has been confirmed, not guessing from the job description.

Find Operations at Medtronic JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Medtronic sponsor H-1B visas for Operations roles?
Yes, Medtronic sponsors H-1B visas for Operations positions that qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards. Roles in supply chain management, manufacturing engineering, and process improvement typically meet that threshold. More general production or technician roles may not qualify, so confirm the specific position's sponsorship eligibility with the recruiter before advancing.
How do I apply for Operations jobs at Medtronic?
Applications go through Medtronic's careers portal, where you can filter by function and location. Tailoring your resume to reflect regulated manufacturing experience, such as FDA compliance, lean operations, or medical device production, improves your chances of clearing initial screening. You can also browse verified sponsorship-eligible Operations roles at Medtronic directly through Migrate Mate.
Which visa types does Medtronic commonly use for Operations positions?
Medtronic sponsors H-1B visas most frequently for Operations roles requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. The company also supports Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications for longer-term employees. F-1 OPT and CPT are options for students transitioning from programs in supply chain, industrial engineering, or operations management. Canadian and Mexican nationals may also be eligible for TN status in qualifying roles.
What qualifications does Medtronic expect for sponsored Operations roles?
Most sponsored Operations positions at Medtronic require a bachelor's degree in supply chain, industrial engineering, operations management, or a related field. Experience in FDA-regulated or ISO-certified manufacturing environments is a strong differentiator. For senior roles, Medtronic typically looks for demonstrated leadership in continuous improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma or lean methodologies within a medical device or broader healthcare manufacturing context.
How do I time my application if I need H-1B sponsorship?
The H-1B cap lottery runs once a year, with registrations typically opening in March and the cap year beginning October 1. If you're on F-1 OPT, you need an offer in hand early enough for your employer to register you in the lottery and file a petition if selected. Starting your Medtronic job search six to nine months before your OPT authorization expires gives you meaningful runway to work through that process.
