Align your credentials to LCA-filed roles
Michael Baker files Labor Condition Applications with DOL before sponsoring any visa. Pull their public LCA disclosures to see which project management job titles and wage levels they've filed under, then match your resume language to those exact titles.
Pursue PMP certification before applying
Senior project management roles at infrastructure consulting firms like Michael Baker consistently list PMP certification as a differentiator. Having it documented before outreach removes a common objection during the sponsorship conversation and strengthens your H-1B specialty occupation case.
Target infrastructure and federal practice areas
Michael Baker's project management hiring concentrates in transportation, federal, and civil infrastructure practices. Framing your experience around DOT programs, federal contracts, or public infrastructure delivery gets your application in front of the teams most likely to sponsor.
Clarify your OPT or grace period timeline early
If you're on F-1 OPT, surface your authorization end date in the first recruiter conversation. Senior roles take longer to move through approvals, and Michael Baker needs enough runway to complete USCIS filing before your status lapses. The H-1B cap-subject window closes October 1 each fiscal year.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship
Searching for senior project management openings across a firm with multiple practice lines is time-consuming. Use Migrate Mate to filter Michael Baker International's open roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you're only pursuing positions actively open to sponsored candidates.
Request a PERM-aware offer structure if pursuing a Green Card
Michael Baker sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 pathways, which require PERM labor certification through DOL. Ask during offer negotiation whether the role qualifies for PERM sponsorship and request that the offered salary meets or exceeds the prevailing wage level required for filing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Michael Baker International sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Project Managements?
Yes, Michael Baker International sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Project Management roles. These positions generally qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria because they require a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline. If you're cap-subject, timing your application to align with the April H-1B lottery window is essential.
How do I apply for Senior Project Management jobs at Michael Baker International?
You can apply directly through Michael Baker International's careers page or find open Senior Project Management roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. When applying, emphasize experience with large-scale infrastructure or federal projects, as those practice areas align with where Michael Baker concentrates senior PM hiring. Tailor your resume to reflect the LCA job titles they've historically filed under.
Which visa types are commonly used for Senior Project Management roles at Michael Baker International?
Michael Baker International sponsors H-1B, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for senior project management functions. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering and management categories. EB-2 and EB-3 are the most common immigrant pathways, both requiring PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS petition filing.
What qualifications does Michael Baker International expect for Senior Project Management roles?
Candidates typically need a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related technical field, combined with substantial years of project delivery experience in infrastructure or federal consulting environments. PMP certification and familiarity with federal contracting structures, including FAR compliance and DOT program delivery, are common differentiators. Senior roles often require demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary teams and client-facing delivery on public-sector contracts.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Senior Project Management offer at Michael Baker International?
For H-1B sponsorship, USCIS standard processing runs several months after the April lottery selection, with an October 1 start date. Premium processing can reduce the adjudication window to 15 business days once USCIS accepts the petition. For EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, the full PERM labor certification and USCIS petition process typically spans one to two years before priority date consideration, depending on your country of birth.
