Job Description: GIPS Composite Specialist (Consultant)
Department: Institutional Performance and Composites
Location: New York, NY
Role Overview
The GIPS Composite Specialist will focus on comprehensive review and remediation of the firm's existing composite structures. This individual will lead efforts to rationalize and revamp composites from the ground up — engaging directly with portfolio managers and product specialists to clarify strategy intent, eliminate redundancy, sharpen composite definitions, resolve performance track record issues, and collaborate with management to update firm GIPS® Standards Policy & Procedures. This is a hands-on, project-oriented role requiring both deep technical GIPS expertise and strong interpersonal skills to drive change across investment teams.
Key Responsibilities
Composite Review & Remediation
- Conduct a structured, end-to-end review of the firm's existing composite universe — evaluating composite definitions, inclusion/exclusion rules, composite descriptions, and portfolio assignments.
- Identify redundant or overlapping composites and lead rationalization efforts to consolidate or redefine as appropriate.
- Ensure each composite has a clear, distinct purpose that accurately reflects the investment strategy it represents. This may include rewriting composite descriptions to be precise and meaningful to both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
- Review and update composite rules (e.g., minimum asset thresholds, new account inclusion timing, significant cash flow policies) to ensure consistency and GIPS alignment.
- Rewrite and update current firm GIPS® Standards Policy & Procedures.
Portfolio Manager & Product Specialist Engagement
- Serve as the primary liaison between Operations and portfolio managers / product specialists during the composite review process.
- Conduct working sessions with investment teams to understand strategy mandates, target clients, and investment guidelines — using these insights to validate or redefine composite structures.
- Clearly communicate proposed changes to composite definitions, rules, or assignments and obtain alignment from relevant stakeholders.
- Advise portfolio managers on GIPS requirements in a practical, accessible way, bridging the gap between compliance standards and day-to-day investment management.
Performance Track Record Resolution
- Identify and investigate potential performance track record issues arising from historical composite misassignments, methodology inconsistencies, or system discrepancies.
- Work cross-functionally with performance reporting, technology, and data teams to resolve track record gaps, restatements, or errors.
- Ensure continuity and accuracy of composite performance histories, with proper documentation of any changes made during remediation.
- Validate return calculations and ensure methodologies applied across composites are consistent and compliant with GIPS standards.
GIPS Alignment & Governance
- Develop and maintain clear, audit-ready documentation for every composite — including rationale for creation, modification, or termination decisions made during the review process.
- Establish or strengthen composite governance policies and controls to prevent recurrence of issues identified during the review.
Qualifications
- CIPM (Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement) designation — preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in investment performance and GIPS compliance operations. Deep, hands-on knowledge of the GIPS standards and practical application to composite management.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing, remediating, or restructuring composites.
- Strong track record of engaging directly with portfolio managers and product teams to drive alignment on performance and compliance matters.
- Experience resolving performance track record issues, including restatements and historical discrepancies.
- Excellent communication skills — Translates complex GIPS concepts into plain language for investment and business teams. Ability to draft clear, precise composite descriptions and governance documentation.
- Experience with Confluence StatPro Composites application — preferred.
- Project Ownership: Self-directed and organized; able to manage a broad remediation effort across many composites simultaneously.

Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
Business Development roles at Mphasis typically involve technology consulting sales and IT solutions, so frame your degree and experience around a specific field like computer science, information systems, or business administration to support a specialty occupation finding under H-1B.
Target Mphasis roles tied to named accounts
Mphasis structures its BD teams around specific enterprise clients and verticals like banking, insurance, and logistics. Applying to roles tied to industries you have demonstrated experience in puts you in a stronger position than applying broadly.
Ask about the cap-exempt filing pathway early
Mphasis sometimes places employees at client sites that qualify as cap-exempt institutions. During the offer stage, ask your recruiter whether your placement qualifies, which would let you file an H-1B petition outside the annual lottery.
Track Mphasis BD openings on Migrate Mate
Business Development roles with confirmed visa sponsorship at Mphasis move quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter for open positions at Mphasis by role and sponsorship type so you're applying as soon as a relevant posting appears.
Prepare for PERM documentation if pursuing Green Card
Mphasis supports EB-2 and EB-3 pathways for longer-tenured employees. If you're targeting permanent residence, document your job duties carefully from day one because DOL PERM requires showing the role's requirements match your actual position, not a generalized description.

Find Business Development at Mphasis JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Mphasis sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, Mphasis sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery and has supported employees in this function through the petition process. If you're already on OPT or another nonimmigrant status, Mphasis can also transition you to H-1B status when a cap slot is secured.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Mphasis?
You can find open Business Development positions at Mphasis through their careers portal or through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles with confirmed visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight technology solutions sales, enterprise client management, or IT services experience, which aligns with how Mphasis structures its BD teams.
Which visa types does Mphasis commonly use for Business Development roles?
Mphasis supports several visa categories for Business Development hires, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, and TN visas for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals. For employees on a longer-term path, Mphasis also sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Mphasis expect for Business Development roles?
Mphasis typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, computer science, or a related field, combined with experience selling technology services or managing enterprise accounts. Familiarity with sectors like banking, insurance, or logistics is a practical advantage since Mphasis organizes its BD function around specific industry verticals rather than general commercial sales.
How do I time my application around the H-1B filing cycle?
USCIS opens H-1B registrations in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, you need your registration submitted before your OPT expires, which means starting your job search at Mphasis no later than the prior fall. If you miss the lottery, Mphasis's cap-exempt client placements or an O-1 petition may provide alternative paths depending on your qualifications.
