Tailor your resume to healthcare support
MyMichigan Health hires Customer Support staff who understand clinical workflows, insurance terminology, and HIPAA-compliant communication. Highlight any experience with electronic health records, patient scheduling systems, or healthcare billing to stand out from general customer service applicants.
Confirm sponsorship eligibility before applying
Not every Customer Support opening at MyMichigan Health carries sponsorship approval. When you reach the recruiter stage, ask directly whether the specific role has been cleared for H-1B or TN sponsorship, since healthcare systems often fund sponsorship at the department level.
Use Migrate Mate to target open roles
Filtering for sponsoring employers in healthcare takes time if you're searching manually. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified Customer Support openings at MyMichigan Health and similar health systems that have an active sponsorship history.
Prepare your credential documents early
If your highest degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved organization before your first interview. MyMichigan Health's HR team will need to verify your qualifications meet the specialty occupation standard for USCIS H-1B filing.
Understand TN status for Canadian and Mexican applicants
If you're a Canadian or Mexican citizen, TN status under USMCA may be faster than the H-1B route for a qualifying Customer Support role. Confirm with MyMichigan Health's HR whether the job description maps to an eligible TN category before negotiations begin.
Time your offer acceptance around USCIS processing
H-1B petitions for cap-subject candidates must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. If you're interviewing in late spring or summer, discuss with MyMichigan Health's HR whether premium processing is available to avoid a gap in your work authorization.

Does MyMichigan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Customer Support roles?
Yes, MyMichigan Health has sponsored H-1B visas for Customer Support positions. Sponsorship availability depends on the specific role and department budget, so confirm during the recruiter screening stage. Because MyMichigan Health operates as a healthcare system, many of its Customer Support roles involve specialized knowledge that can satisfy the USCIS specialty occupation standard required for H-1B approval.
How do I apply for Customer Support jobs at MyMichigan Health?
You can apply directly through MyMichigan Health's careers portal or browse verified sponsoring openings through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where sponsorship is available. When submitting your application, tailor your resume to healthcare-specific support functions like patient account management, insurance verification, or HIPAA-compliant communication, as these align closely with what MyMichigan Health recruiters screen for.
Which visa types does MyMichigan Health commonly use for Customer Support positions?
MyMichigan Health sponsors H-1B visas as its primary pathway for international Customer Support hires. The organization also accepts candidates on F-1 OPT and F-1 CPT, which can be useful for recent graduates entering healthcare support roles. Canadian and Mexican citizens may qualify for TN status if their role aligns with an eligible USMCA occupation category, offering a faster alternative to the H-1B cap process.
What qualifications does MyMichigan Health expect for Customer Support roles?
MyMichigan Health typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as healthcare administration, business, or communications, along with demonstrated experience in a healthcare or patient-facing environment. Familiarity with electronic health record platforms, medical billing processes, or insurance authorization workflows strengthens your application considerably. Strong written and verbal communication skills are non-negotiable given the patient-facing nature of these roles.
How do I navigate the visa sponsorship timeline when pursuing a Customer Support role at MyMichigan Health?
If you're targeting H-1B sponsorship, factor in that USCIS requires the petition to be filed no later than April 1 for an October 1 start, and lottery selection is required for cap-subject candidates. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date relative to MyMichigan Health's expected hire date. Raising the sponsorship conversation early in the interview process helps both parties plan around USCIS processing timelines and avoid last-minute complications.
