Target academic and research roles first
NSU's sponsorship activity skews toward faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and specialized professional staff. Focus your search on roles in health sciences, education, and research administration, where visa sponsorship is most commonly tied to hiring.
Understand which visa types NSU supports
NSU sponsors several visa categories including H-1B, E-3, TN, J-1, and Green Card pathways. Knowing which category fits your background before applying helps you ask the right questions and signals to HR that you've done your homework.
Apply early in NSU's hiring cycle
University hiring often follows academic calendar timelines, with searches opening in fall for spring or summer starts. Applying early gives NSU's international services office enough runway to complete LCA and petition paperwork before your intended start date.
Highlight credentials that match specialty occupation standards
NSU's H-1B sponsorships require the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Make sure your CV clearly demonstrates that your degree field directly aligns with the specific position, not just broadly with the department.
Check for OPT and CPT-friendly postings if you're on F-1
NSU has sponsored F-1 OPT and CPT, making it worth targeting if you're currently on a student visa. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find NSU roles open to OPT candidates.
Reach out to NSU's Office of International Affairs proactively
NSU has a dedicated international services function that coordinates with HR on visa petitions. Contacting them before or during your application process can clarify timelines, required documentation, and whether a specific role has been approved for sponsorship.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Nova Southeastern University sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Nova Southeastern University sponsors H-1B visas and has a consistent track record of doing so across multiple departments. Sponsorship is most common for faculty, researchers, and specialized professional roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation. NSU's international services office handles the petition process in coordination with hiring departments, so the experience for sponsored employees is generally well-supported.
Which visa types does Nova Southeastern University sponsor?
NSU sponsors a broad range of visa types including H-1B, E-3 visa, TN visa, J-1 visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT. It also supports Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways for eligible employees. This makes NSU one of the more comprehensive sponsors in higher education, accommodating candidates from Australia, Canada, and a wide range of other countries.
Which departments or roles at Nova Southeastern University are most likely to sponsor visas?
Visa sponsorship at NSU is most concentrated in health sciences, pharmacy, osteopathic medicine, psychology, law, and education research. Faculty positions, postdoctoral researchers, and specialized professional staff in these areas are the most common recipients of H-1B and Green Card sponsorship. Administrative roles outside academic departments are sponsored less frequently and often depend on the specific position's qualifications.
How do I find open jobs at Nova Southeastern University that offer visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to use Migrate Mate, which surfaces verified sponsoring employers and lets you filter by real sponsorship history, visa type, and industry. This means you can find NSU postings confirmed to have sponsorship activity rather than relying on job descriptions that may not mention immigration support explicitly. Searching directly on NSU's careers portal and noting roles in research and academic departments is also effective.
How do I time my application to Nova Southeastern University around H-1B deadlines?
If you need a new H-1B, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start date. NSU would need to register you in the lottery, so you'd ideally have an offer or be well into the hiring process by February. If you're transferring an existing H-1B, timing is more flexible since NSU can file a transfer petition at any point in the year without waiting for the lottery.
