Align Your Credentials to PMA's Project Scope
PMA operates in construction management and real estate advisory, so credentials like a PMP, PE license, or a degree in civil or structural engineering carry real weight. Make sure your resume frames your experience around project delivery, cost control, or owner's representation.
Verify Your Degree Supports Specialty Occupation Status
H-1B approval for Consultant roles requires USCIS to confirm the position qualifies as a specialty occupation. A degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management directly tied to your day-to-day duties strengthens that case considerably over a general business degree.
Target Open Consultant Requisitions Directly and Proactively
PMA posts Consultant openings across multiple locations and practice areas. Browse active listings on Migrate Mate to filter specifically for PMA roles that indicate visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions already structured for international candidates.
Clarify OPT or CPT Timing Before Your Interview
If you're on F-1 status, confirm whether your OPT start date aligns with PMA's expected onboarding window. Gaps between your program end date and OPT authorization can complicate a start date, and PMA will need that timing resolved before extending an offer.
Understand the LCA Filing Requirement Before Offer Stage
Before USCIS receives an H-1B petition, your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL confirming the offered wage meets the prevailing rate for your role and work location. Knowing this step exists helps you ask informed questions during offer negotiation.
Prepare for a Longer Timeline If PERM Is Required
For EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, PMA would need to complete PERM labor certification through DOL before filing an immigrant petition. That process typically runs 12 to 18 months before the petition stage, so factor that into any long-term planning conversations with your hiring manager.

Does PMA Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Consultants?
Yes, PMA Consultants has a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Consultant roles. The position typically qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria given the engineering and project management expertise required. Your degree field should align directly with the duties of the specific Consultant role you're applying for to support the petition.
Which visa types are commonly used for Consultant roles at PMA Consultants?
PMA Consultants sponsors H-1B, EB-2, and EB-3 visas for Consultant positions, and also works with candidates on F-1 OPT and CPT for early-career roles. TN status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. The right visa type depends on your nationality, degree, and how the role is structured.
What qualifications and experience does PMA Consultants expect for Consultant roles?
PMA typically looks for candidates with backgrounds in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related technical field. For visa sponsorship purposes, a bachelor's degree in a directly related discipline is generally required to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation standards. Project management experience, familiarity with owner's representation, and credentials like a PMP or PE license strengthen your profile significantly.
How do I apply for Consultant jobs at PMA Consultants?
You can browse and apply for Consultant openings at PMA Consultants through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles offering visa sponsorship so you're not wasting time on positions that won't support your status. PMA posts openings across multiple locations and practice areas, so check listings regularly and apply to roles where your technical background aligns with the project type described.
How do I plan the timeline for H-1B sponsorship at PMA Consultants?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed once per year, with USCIS typically opening registration in March for an October 1 start date. If you're on F-1 OPT, your OPT duration needs to bridge the gap until October 1. Connecting with PMA's HR team early in the hiring process, ideally several months before the registration window opens, gives both sides time to prepare the petition documentation.
