Align your credentials with specialty occupation standards
Project Consultant roles at PMA require a degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related field. USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation eligibility for consulting roles, so make sure your transcripts and degree title directly support the position before applying.
Target PMA's active project pipeline when applying
PMA staffs Project Consultants against live client engagements in construction and real estate. Searching open requisitions by region and project type gives you a clearer picture of where urgent hiring is happening, which matters for sponsorship timelines.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Project Consultant roles
PMA Consultants posts Project Consultant openings across multiple locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles that support visa sponsorship, so you're only spending time on positions where your immigration situation is already accounted for.
Clarify OPT cap-gap coverage before your start date
If you're on F-1 OPT and PMA files an H-1B petition for you before your OPT expires, you may be eligible for cap-gap protection. Confirm with PMA's HR team that the H-1B is filed before April 1 so your employment authorization bridges the gap through October 1.
Understand PERM timing for permanent residency pathways
PMA has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 petitions for consulting staff. PERM requires DOL to certify that no qualified U.S. workers are available, which typically takes six to eighteen months before USCIS can adjudicate the I-140. Ask hiring managers early if PMA initiates PERM concurrent with or after H-1B approval.
Prepare a project portfolio before the offer stage
PMA evaluates Project Consultants on demonstrated experience with scheduling software, cost controls, and owner-side construction oversight. Having a concise portfolio of past engagements ready before final interviews strengthens both your candidacy and the specialty occupation documentation your sponsor will later need.

Find Project Consultant at PMA Consultants JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does PMA Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Project Consultants?
Yes, PMA Consultants has a history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Project Consultant roles. Because these positions require specialized knowledge in construction management or engineering, they generally meet USCIS specialty occupation criteria. You should confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter during the initial screening call, as sponsorship can depend on the specific client engagement the role supports.
How do I apply for Project Consultant jobs at PMA Consultants?
You can find and filter open Project Consultant positions at PMA Consultants using Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles that include visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight construction or real estate project experience, relevant software proficiency, and any owner-representative or program management work. Reaching out to a PMA recruiter directly after submitting can move your application forward faster.
Which visa types does PMA Consultants commonly use for Project Consultant roles?
PMA Consultants has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, EB-2, and EB-3 visa types for this role. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while H-1B is the standard long-term work visa. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering or management roles. EB-2 and EB-3 are the typical pathways to a Green Card for established consultants.
What qualifications does PMA Consultants expect for Project Consultant positions?
PMA typically looks for a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related discipline. Relevant experience in program management, cost estimating, or project controls within construction or real estate environments is expected. Familiarity with scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project and experience on owner-side engagements strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
How do I plan my timeline if PMA Consultants is sponsoring my H-1B?
H-1B petitions are subject to an annual cap with a lottery that opens in March for an October 1 start date. If PMA agrees to sponsor you, the registration window is narrow, so your offer and paperwork need to be in order before early March. If you are not selected in the lottery, discuss whether PMA will consider premium processing in a future cycle or explore TN or EB pathways as alternatives.
