Align Your Credentials to Specialty Occupation Standards
For H-1B eligibility, your degree must directly relate to project management in construction or a closely allied field. A general business degree alone may not satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements, so framing your engineering or architecture credentials clearly strengthens your petition.
Target PMA's Infrastructure and Owner's Representative Work
PMA Consultants operates heavily in owner's representative and program management for public infrastructure clients. Emphasize experience managing project controls, schedules, or budgets on capital programs, since that profile maps directly to the roles they recruit for most actively.
Search Open Roles Through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Project Management Consultant openings at PMA Consultants by visa type. This surfaces roles where sponsorship is confirmed, saving you time and letting you apply with confidence rather than guessing at sponsorship willingness during outreach.
Raise Sponsorship Early in Recruiter Conversations
PMA Consultants engages multiple visa categories for this role, so confirm which pathway applies to your situation before investing time in interviews. Asking about H-1B, TN, or OPT eligibility in the first recruiter call avoids mismatched expectations late in the process.
Prepare for DOL Prevailing Wage Before Your Offer
For H-1B sponsorship, your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your job location and level. Construction program management wages vary significantly by region, so research wage level data for your target city before negotiating your offer.
Understand the PERM Timeline if Pursuing a Green Card
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship through PMA requires PERM labor certification, which typically takes 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition can be filed. Factor this into your long-term planning, especially if your current status has limited extension options.

Find Project Management Consultant at PMA Consultants JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does PMA Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Project Management Consultants?
Yes, PMA Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for Project Management Consultants. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards given its requirement for a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Confirm sponsorship availability for your specific opening during the recruiter screening stage.
How do I apply for Project Management Consultant jobs at PMA Consultants?
You can find and apply for Project Management Consultant openings at PMA Consultants through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship type so you can identify positions that match your work authorization situation. Apply with a resume that highlights project controls experience and relevant construction or infrastructure programs, and address sponsorship needs directly in early conversations with their recruiting team.
Which visa types does PMA Consultants commonly use for Project Management Consultants?
PMA Consultants sponsors H-1B visas as the primary long-term work authorization pathway for this role. Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible for TN status, which is faster to obtain and does not require a lottery. F-1 OPT and CPT holders can also work with PMA during their authorized period, with H-1B sponsorship often following. EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways are available for candidates seeking permanent residence.
What qualifications does PMA Consultants expect for Project Management Consultant roles?
PMA Consultants typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, combined with hands-on experience in project controls, scheduling, or program management for large capital projects. Familiarity with owner's representative or public sector infrastructure work is a strong differentiator. Professional certifications such as PMP are commonly valued but not always required at entry-level consulting grades.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take at PMA Consultants?
For H-1B sponsorship, standard USCIS processing runs three to five months from petition filing, with premium processing available to reduce that to 15 business days. H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, so timing your offer and acceptance accordingly is critical. TN status can be obtained at a port of entry in a single day for eligible nationals, making it a faster path if you qualify.
