Frame your credentials around infrastructure delivery
GHD's project management work is heavily weighted toward civil, environmental, and engineering infrastructure. PMP or CAPM certification paired with sector-relevant project examples, such as water, transport, or energy programs, signals direct fit before you even apply.
Target GHD's regional offices strategically
GHD staffs Project Management Consultants across dozens of U.S. offices, and hiring pace varies by region and active contracts. Roles tied to infrastructure-funded programs in states with active federal spending tend to open and fill faster than corporate generalist positions.
Clarify your visa category early in interviews
GHD sponsors multiple visa types for this role, and each carries different employer obligations and timelines. Naming your status clearly in the first recruiter screen, whether F-1 OPT, TN, or EB-2 PERM, lets the hiring team assess feasibility before the offer stage.
Use OPT strategically if you're near graduation
F-1 OPT gives you up to 12 months of work authorization without requiring GHD to file a petition immediately. STEM OPT extension can extend that window to 36 months, giving you time to demonstrate performance before the company initiates a longer-term sponsorship process.
Understand the PERM timeline for EB-2 and EB-3 paths
If GHD sponsors you for an employment-based Green Card, the DOL PERM labor certification process typically runs six to twelve months before USCIS can adjudicate the I-140 petition. Factor this into your longer-term planning if you're targeting permanent residence through this role.
Browse open roles using Migrate Mate
GHD posts Project Management Consultant roles across multiple U.S. locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions by visa type and location so you're applying to roles already tagged for sponsorship, rather than screening manually across generic job boards.

Does GHD sponsor H-1B visas for Project Management Consultants?
GHD's sponsorship activity for Project Management Consultants centers on employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3, as well as F-1 OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1 statuses. If H-1B sponsorship is your primary need, confirm this directly with the recruiter early in the process, as sponsorship offerings can vary by office and contract pipeline.
How do I apply for Project Management Consultant jobs at GHD?
Applications go through GHD's careers portal, where roles are listed by location and practice area. Migrate Mate also aggregates GHD's open Project Management Consultant positions and filters them by visa sponsorship type, which can save time if you're targeting roles that match your specific immigration status. Tailor your application to reflect infrastructure or engineering project experience where possible.
Which visa types does GHD commonly use for Project Management Consultants?
GHD has sponsored Project Management Consultants under EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories, and J-1 for exchange visitors. The most appropriate path depends on your nationality, degree field, and how long you've been in the U.S.
What qualifications does GHD expect for a Project Management Consultant role?
GHD typically looks for a bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, construction management, or a related technical field. Project management certification such as PMP strengthens your profile. Consulting experience on large infrastructure or government contracts is a meaningful differentiator, as GHD's work often spans multi-year programs in water, transport, and energy sectors.
How long does the sponsorship and hiring process take at GHD?
Timelines vary by visa type. F-1 OPT and TN can be arranged relatively quickly, sometimes within weeks of an offer. EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship involves a DOL PERM labor certification stage that typically takes six to twelve months, followed by USCIS adjudication of the I-140 petition. Planning ahead and discussing your timeline with GHD's HR team early in the process helps both sides set realistic expectations.
