Align your credentials with U.S. licensing expectations
GHD Civil Project Managers are typically expected to hold or be pursuing a U.S. PE license. Before applying, assess whether your home-country credentials qualify for comity or NCEES exam pathways in the state where the role is based.
Target GHD's infrastructure and water divisions
GHD's highest Civil Project Manager hiring volume clusters around transportation, water infrastructure, and environmental consulting. Framing your application around project delivery experience in those sectors increases your relevance to the roles actively being filled.
Clarify your OPT or TN eligibility during outreach
GHD sponsors TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals and supports F-1 OPT for recent graduates. Confirming your current status and remaining authorized period before your first recruiter conversation prevents delays once an offer moves forward.
Understand PERM timelines before your start date
If GHD pursues an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card for your role, DOL's PERM labor certification process typically adds 12 to 18 months before USCIS adjudication begins. Factor this into your long-term planning, especially if you're transitioning from a status with a fixed end date.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open GHD Civil Project Manager roles
GHD posts Civil Project Manager openings across multiple U.S. regions simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter for GHD roles by visa type and location, so you're applying to positions where your specific sponsorship pathway is already confirmed.
Prepare a clear scope-of-work narrative for your petition
For specialty occupation petitions, USCIS scrutinizes whether the role genuinely requires a specific degree field. Document your project management responsibilities in terms of engineering judgment and technical decision-making, not general coordination tasks, to support a stronger I-129 filing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does GHD sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Project Managers?
GHD does not appear in recent H-1B visa sponsorship records for Civil Project Manager roles, but the company actively sponsors other visa categories for this function, including EB-2, EB-3, TN visa, and F-1 OPT. If an H-1B visa is your required pathway, confirm sponsorship availability directly with GHD's recruiting team before advancing in the process.
Which visa types does GHD commonly use for Civil Project Manager roles?
GHD sponsors F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, J-1 visa, EB-2, and EB-3 for Civil Project Manager positions. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals with a qualifying engineering degree. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates. EB-2 and EB-3 are the primary Green Card pathways for this role, requiring PERM labor certification through the DOL before USCIS adjudication.
What qualifications does GHD expect for Civil Project Manager roles?
GHD typically expects a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, several years of project delivery experience in consulting or infrastructure sectors, and progress toward or attainment of a U.S. PE license. Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and client-facing project scopes in water, transportation, or environmental markets is a strong differentiator for this function.
How do I apply for Civil Project Manager jobs at GHD?
GHD posts Civil Project Manager openings on its careers portal and across major job boards. To find roles filtered by visa sponsorship type and location in one place, browse GHD's listings on Migrate Mate. Before applying, confirm the specific visa pathway each role supports, since sponsorship availability can vary by office location and project backlog.
How do I plan my timeline if GHD sponsors a Green Card for my role?
If GHD initiates EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, the DOL PERM process typically takes 12 to 18 months before USCIS receives the I-140 petition. Nationals from India or China face additional priority date backlogs that extend the overall timeline significantly. Starting on a status that permits long-term work authorization, such as TN or OPT with a timely extension, gives you the most flexibility during this process.
