Align your PE license with BKF's markets
BKF operates primarily in California and the Pacific Northwest, so a California PE license or active reciprocity application signals you're ready to work in their core project regions. Start the licensing process before you reach the offer stage.
Target BKF's land development project pipeline
BKF's Civil Project Manager roles are heavily weighted toward private land development and entitlement work, not just public infrastructure. Frame your resume around private-sector site design, grading, and agency coordination rather than exclusively public works experience.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open roles faster
BKF posts Civil Project Manager openings across multiple locations and disciplines. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles where sponsorship is confirmed, so you're applying to positions with a real immigration pathway rather than guessing from generic job listings.
Request an H-1B transfer before your OPT expires
If you're currently on OPT and targeting BKF, initiate the H-1B cap-subject petition conversation at least six months before your authorization expires. USCIS requires the petition filed by April 1 for an October 1 start, so timing your offer accordingly matters.
Document client-facing project management experience precisely
BKF's Civil Project Manager roles involve direct client management, subconsultant coordination, and fee tracking. Quantify scope-of-work experience in your application materials, since vague project descriptions won't satisfy DOL's PERM audit requirements for specialty occupation substantiation.

Find Civil Project Manager at BKF Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Project Managers?
BKF Engineers has sponsored work visas for civil engineering roles, but their primary pathway for Civil Project Managers runs through permanent residence categories rather than H-1B transfers. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, a transfer to BKF is possible. If you need initial cap-subject sponsorship, confirm their current H-1B policy directly with their HR team during the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Civil Project Manager roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers has filed sponsorship under EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories for engineering professionals. EB-2 applies when the role requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability, while EB-3 covers positions requiring a bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience. Both pathways require PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before USCIS can adjudicate the immigrant petition.
What qualifications or experience does BKF Engineers expect for Civil Project Manager roles?
BKF typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, a Professional Engineer license (or active candidacy), and several years of project management experience in land development or site civil work. Strong candidates demonstrate experience managing project budgets, coordinating with municipal agencies for entitlements, and leading subconsultant teams on private-sector development projects in California or the Pacific Northwest.
How do I apply for Civil Project Manager jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can find open Civil Project Manager roles at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for positions with visa sponsorship history so you're not wasting applications on roles that won't support your immigration needs. When applying, tailor your materials to BKF's land development focus and highlight any California-specific project experience, PE licensure status, and client management background prominently.
How do I plan my timeline if BKF Engineers agrees to sponsor my Green Card?
Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 at a firm like BKF begins with PERM labor certification, which currently takes several months at the DOL. After PERM approval, your employer files an I-140 petition with USCIS. Depending on your country of birth, priority date backlogs can significantly extend total processing time. Starting the conversation early in your employment gives you the most flexibility.
