Align your credentials to U.S. PE standards
Michael Baker prioritizes licensed or licensure-track engineers for Civil Project Manager roles. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation through NACES before applying so hiring managers can immediately verify your qualifications meet state PE board requirements.
Target DOT and federal infrastructure project listings
Michael Baker's civil work is heavily tied to state DOT and federal contracts. Search their open roles for project types matching your experience, whether highway, bridge, or transit, since government contract portfolios directly shape which offices have active headcount and sponsorship budget.
Clarify LCA timing before accepting an offer
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Ask your recruiter when the LCA process typically begins relative to your start date so you're not caught waiting on federal processing after signing.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Civil Project Manager openings
Michael Baker posts roles across dozens of regional offices, and not all appear consistently on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Civil Project Manager positions at Michael Baker International that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're only spending time on viable applications.
Prepare for multi-office interview processes
Michael Baker often hires Civil Project Managers through regional offices tied to specific contracts. Reach out to the office location directly after applying online, since hiring decisions for sponsored roles frequently involve both local leadership and a central HR review of your visa status.
Understand green card timing if you hold H-1B status
Michael Baker has sponsored both EB-2 and EB-3 categories for civil professionals. If you're from a country with long PERM priority date backlogs, ask your immigration contact at the company how early the employer-sponsored green card process typically starts relative to your hire date.
