Frame your credentials around civil consulting deliverables
BKF Engineers evaluates Project Consultants on technical output: grading plans, utility coordination, and entitlement support. Tailor your resume to show project delivery experience in land development or infrastructure, not just general engineering coursework or internships.
Research BKF's active project markets before applying
BKF operates across California, Oregon, and Washington with heavy focus on mixed-use and residential land development. Identifying which regional office aligns with your discipline and experience signals genuine fit, and helps you speak specifically to local project types in your cover letter.
Understand the EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship timeline early
Employment-based Green Card sponsorship through PERM typically takes one to three years before a priority date is current. For nationals from backlogged countries, factor in additional wait time and ask during the offer stage how BKF structures its sponsorship commitments contractually.
Use Migrate Mate to target open Project Consultant roles at BKF
BKF frequently posts Project Consultant openings across multiple offices. Migrate Mate filters specifically for roles at employers with a Green Card sponsorship history, so you can identify and track BKF openings without wading through positions at companies that don't sponsor.
Confirm PERM sponsorship intent before accepting an offer
Not every BKF offer includes a sponsorship commitment. Ask directly whether the role is eligible for PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, which timeline the company follows for initiating the process, and whether prevailing wage requirements under DOL guidelines are met for your specific position.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation in advance
USCIS requires that EB-2 and EB-3 petitions establish your degree meets U.S. equivalency standards. If you hold a three-year bachelor's degree or a non-U.S. credential, obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before your employer files, to avoid delays in the PERM process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Project Consultants?
BKF Engineers' documented sponsorship activity for Project Consultants is focused on employment-based Green Card categories rather than H-1B visa. If you're currently on an H-1B with another employer, a transfer is possible, but you should confirm directly with BKF's HR team whether they initiate new H-1B petitions for this role during the hiring process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Project Consultant roles at BKF Engineers?
BKF Engineers has sponsored Project Consultants through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card categories. EB-3 is the more common path for roles requiring a bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering. EB-2 may apply if the position requires an advanced degree or the candidate can demonstrate exceptional ability in their discipline.
What qualifications and experience does BKF Engineers expect for Project Consultant roles?
BKF typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field, along with hands-on experience in land development, site design, or infrastructure delivery. Familiarity with California or Pacific Northwest entitlement processes, grading design, and tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D strengthens your application considerably. Licensure as an EIT or PE is a differentiator at the consultant level.
How do I apply for Project Consultant jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can browse open Project Consultant positions at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles at employers with a confirmed Green Card sponsorship history for this function. BKF posts openings across multiple offices, so filtering by location and role type helps narrow to the right team. Apply directly through BKF's careers portal and reference your visa status clearly in your application.
How do I plan my timeline for Green Card sponsorship at BKF Engineers?
The PERM labor certification process, which BKF uses as the foundation for EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship, typically takes six to eighteen months with DOL before the I-140 petition can be filed with USCIS. Nationals from India or China face additional wait times due to per-country backlogs. Raising the sponsorship conversation at the offer stage, not after you start, gives you the clearest picture of the company's commitment and timeline.
