Frame Your BD Experience Around Infrastructure Markets
BKF Engineers works in civil engineering and land development, so position your business development background around client acquisition and proposal management in infrastructure, municipal, or AEC sectors. Generic sales experience won't stand out; project-win narratives will.
Research BKF's Regional Office Hiring Activity
BKF operates across multiple offices in California and the western U.S. Check which locations have open Business Development Consultant listings and tailor your outreach to the regional principals who own those client relationships, since BD hiring is often locally driven.
Prepare Your Credentials for EB-2 or EB-3 Eligibility
BKF's sponsorship pathway for this role runs through employment-based Green Card categories. Gather your degree transcripts, professional certifications, and a detailed employment history now. PERM labor certification requires precise documentation of your qualifications, and gaps slow the process significantly.
Understand the PERM Timeline Before Accepting an Offer
PERM labor certification with DOL typically takes 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition can be filed. Factor that into your employment timeline, especially if you're on OPT or a visa with a fixed end date, so you're not caught without valid status mid-process.
Use Migrate Mate to Identify Open Roles Efficiently
BD roles at engineering consultancies fill through a mix of direct applications and referrals. Use Migrate Mate to filter current Business Development Consultant openings at BKF Engineers and apply directly, so you're not missing active listings while the role is still posted.
Address Nonimmigrant Intent Early in Interviews
If you're currently on a nonimmigrant visa, BKF's HR team will likely ask about your long-term authorization needs. Come prepared to explain your current status, your authorized work period, and how an EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship timeline fits your situation practically.

Find Business Development Consultant at BKF Engineers JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does BKF Engineers sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Consultants?
BKF Engineers' documented sponsorship activity for Business Development Consultants focuses on employment-based Green Card categories rather than H-1B petitions. If you're currently on an H-1B through another employer, a transfer is possible, but you should confirm BKF's willingness to support H-1B cap-exempt or transfer filings directly with their HR team during the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development Consultant roles at BKF Engineers?
The primary pathway at BKF Engineers for this role runs through EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card sponsorship. EB-2 applies if you hold an advanced degree or can demonstrate exceptional ability in business development within engineering or professional services. EB-3 covers professionals with a relevant bachelor's degree. Both require PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before the I-140 petition stage.
What qualifications and experience does BKF Engineers expect for Business Development Consultant positions?
BKF Engineers typically looks for candidates with experience in client relationship management, proposal development, and market growth within civil engineering or related professional services. A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or engineering is common. Familiarity with AEC industry procurement cycles, public agency clients, and land development markets strengthens your profile significantly for their BD function.
How do I apply for Business Development Consultant jobs at BKF Engineers?
You can browse and apply for current Business Development Consultant openings at BKF Engineers through Migrate Mate, which aggregates their active visa-sponsoring roles in one place. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect infrastructure or engineering sector BD experience, and address your work authorization status clearly so hiring managers can move efficiently through the screening process.
How do I plan my timeline if BKF Engineers offers me Green Card sponsorship for this role?
PERM labor certification with the DOL is the first step and generally takes 12 to 18 months if no audit is triggered. After PERM approval, BKF files an I-140 petition with USCIS. Depending on your country of birth, priority date backlogs may add significant wait time before you can adjust status or apply for an immigrant visa. Starting this process as early as possible after your hire date matters.
