Align your credentials to NERC and IEEE standards
Qualus project work is heavily tied to utility and grid clients, so certifications like NERC reliability standards familiarity or IEEE protection relay experience strengthen your specialty occupation case for H-1B purposes before you ever apply.
Target Qualus through DOL LCA disclosure data
Search the DOL OFLC disclosure database for Qualus LCA filings under electrical engineering job codes. This tells you which office locations have filed recently, helping you focus your application on sites with active sponsorship activity.
Clarify OPT STEM extension eligibility before interviewing
Electrical Controls Engineering at a consulting firm like Qualus qualifies under STEM OPT extension rules. Confirm your degree CIP code maps to an eligible STEM field before your recruiter call so you can negotiate a realistic start date and OPT end-date buffer.
Negotiate H-1B filing timing with your hiring manager
Qualus consulting roles often have flexible project start structures. If you receive an offer after the April H-1B lottery window, work with your hiring contact to confirm whether a cap-exempt filing or October 1 start is feasible given your current status.
Find open Electrical Controls Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Filter by sponsorship type and role category on Migrate Mate to surface Qualus Electrical Controls Engineer openings verified for visa sponsorship, saving time you'd otherwise spend cold-applying to postings with no confirmed immigration support.

Find Electrical Controls Engineer at Qualus JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Qualus sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Controls Engineers?
Yes, Qualus sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Controls Engineers. Their work in power systems consulting and utility infrastructure involves specialized technical roles that meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard. If you're targeting Qualus, confirm the specific office location during interviews, as sponsorship decisions can vary by practice group and project backlog.
How do I apply for Electrical Controls Engineer jobs at Qualus?
You can apply directly through Qualus's careers page or find verified sponsorship-eligible openings on Migrate Mate, where postings are filtered by visa type. When applying, tailor your resume to highlight protection relay engineering, SCADA systems, or substation design experience, since those skills map directly to Qualus's utility consulting project work.
Which visa types does Qualus commonly use for Electrical Controls Engineers?
Qualus sponsors H-1B visas for experienced engineers and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates still completing or recently finishing degrees. They also file under TN visa categories for Canadian and Mexican nationals in engineering roles, and pursue EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for engineers transitioning to permanent residence through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Qualus expect for Electrical Controls Engineer roles?
Qualus typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or a closely related field, which also supports the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B filings. Hands-on experience with protective relay programming, PLC or SCADA systems, and utility-grade substation work is heavily weighted. PE licensure or progress toward it strengthens your profile for senior-level roles.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take if I receive an offer from Qualus?
Timeline depends on your visa category. H-1B cap-subject filings require registration in March with an October 1 start date, meaning offers made outside that window may require bridging on OPT or another status. TN visas for Canadian nationals can be processed at the border in days. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 typically takes one to three years from initiation, depending on your country of birth and USCIS processing queues.
