Target academic and administrative roles
Regent University's sponsorship activity is concentrated in faculty, research, and professional staff positions. Focus your search on departments like law, business, and communications, where specialized credentials are more likely to justify the sponsorship process.
Understand the H-1B specialty occupation bar
Regent University sponsors H-1B visas for roles requiring a directly related degree. Make sure your application clearly connects your academic background to the specific position, vague degree-to-role alignment is a common reason sponsorship requests stall in higher education hiring.
Leverage F-1 OPT and CPT as a foot in the door
Regent University supports F-1 OPT and CPT, which can be valuable for international students already enrolled or working in the U.S. Demonstrating value during OPT significantly improves your odds of securing long-term H-1B sponsorship from the university.
Apply well ahead of the H-1B cap deadline
University hiring cycles often run on academic calendars. If you're targeting an H-1B-sponsored role at Regent, apply several months before April, USCIS opens registration in March, and your employer needs time to prepare your petition before the lottery.
Highlight alignment with Regent's mission
Regent University is a Christian liberal arts institution with a distinct institutional culture. Candidates who articulate genuine alignment with its academic mission, not just technical qualifications, tend to advance further in faculty and professional staff hiring processes.
Use Migrate Mate to verify current openings
Regent University posts sponsorship-eligible roles across multiple channels, and availability shifts by semester. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find Regent University openings without sorting through positions that won't support visa sponsorship.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Regent University sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Regent University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying professional and academic roles. Sponsorship is typically reserved for positions that require a specific degree in a directly related field, standard for specialty occupation petitions. The university's sponsorship activity is modest relative to large research institutions, so competition for sponsored roles can be meaningful.
Which visa types does Regent University sponsor?
Regent University sponsors H-1B visas for professional staff and faculty, and supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students in work-authorized programs. The university also participates in the J-1 visa exchange visitor program and TN visa sponsorship for eligible Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. Confirm current availability directly with their HR or international office.
What types of roles at Regent University are most likely to be sponsored?
Sponsored positions at Regent University tend to cluster in academic departments, particularly law, business, communication, and education, as well as professional administrative roles that require specialized credentials. Entry-level or general support positions are unlikely to meet the specialty occupation threshold required for H-1B sponsorship.
How do I find open visa-sponsored jobs at Regent University?
Migrate Mate is the most reliable way to find Regent University roles that come with real sponsorship history. Rather than manually reviewing every posting, you can filter by sponsor and visa type to surface positions where Regent has a documented track record. This saves significant time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship after the fact.
How do I improve my chances of getting sponsored by Regent University?
Start by targeting roles where your degree field directly matches the job requirements, Regent University's H-1B petitions depend on that alignment. If you're on F-1 status, using OPT or CPT to build a track record within the institution is a strong path to long-term sponsorship. Demonstrating familiarity with the university's faith-based mission also strengthens your candidacy in a competitive pool.
