We cover a wide area of the data spectrum including analytical data engineering, product analytics, experimentation, causal inference, statistical modeling and machine learning. Aligned and partnering with product verticals, we use this extensive tool belt to discover new opportunities and unmet use cases, influence and shape the product roadmap and prioritization, build data products and measure impact on our community of players and developers.

- Identify and size the highest-impact levers to improve parent links, engagement, and consent rates.
- Design and evaluate features across onboarding, linking, verification, consent, and Family Hub experiences.
- Apply experimentation and causal inference to understand how parent engagement influences child and family outcomes.
- Define success metrics and measurement frameworks for launches, funnels, and long-term product health.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Policy, Legal, and UX Research to turn ambiguous problems into clear decisions.
- Translate friction points in the parent journey into actionable product recommendations.
- Communicate insights to leadership and cross-functional partners to drive prioritization and tradeoff decisions.
You Have:
- 5+ years of industry experience in data science, economics, analytics, or machine learning engineering
- 2+ years of experience using scripting languages (Python, R), and big data query/processing languages and tools such as SQL, Hive, Spark, and Airflow
- Knowledge of ML and Deep Learning either via formal training or industry experience
- Ability to apply creative first-principles reasoning to solve ambiguous problems
- Experience developing large-scale safety or moderation systems as well as experience with content platforms, specifically user-generated content

Tailor your portfolio to platform-scale data
Roblox's Data Contributor roles emphasize pipeline reliability and user behavior data at massive scale. Showcase projects involving distributed data systems, event logging, or real-time analytics rather than traditional BI or reporting work.
Verify your visa type early in recruitment
Roblox sponsors multiple visa categories for this role, including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Knowing which category fits your citizenship before your first recruiter screen lets you answer sponsorship questions confidently and avoids delays later.
Align your degree field to specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires a direct nexus between your degree field and the role. For Data Contributor positions, degrees in computer science, statistics, or data engineering map most cleanly. Gaps between your major and the job description can trigger a Request for Evidence.
Time your application around OPT and H-1B windows
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM OPT extension eligibility before accepting an offer. The H-1B cap registration opens in March, so an offer finalized in late spring may require bridging through OPT until October 1 when cap-subject H-1B status takes effect.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Data Contributor openings
Roblox posts Data Contributor roles across engineering and platform teams, and openings open and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter live Roblox listings by visa type so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed, not assumed.
Prepare your Labor Condition Application documentation in advance
Your employer files the LCA with DOL before USCIS can adjudicate your H-1B or E-3 petition. Providing your job title, work location, and start date accurately and early prevents LCA delays from pushing back your overall petition timeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Roblox sponsor H-1B visas for Data Contributors?
Yes, Roblox sponsors H-1B visas for Data Contributor roles. The company has a consistent history of filing H-1B petitions for technical positions in this function. Because the H-1B is subject to the annual cap and lottery, timing matters. If you're already on OPT or another status, discuss transition planning with your recruiter early in the process.
How do I apply for Data Contributor jobs at Roblox?
Applications go through Roblox's careers portal, where Data Contributor roles are listed under engineering or data platform teams. You can also browse verified sponsorship-confirmed openings through Migrate Mate, which filters Roblox listings by visa type. Tailor your resume to reflect platform-scale data work, and be prepared for a multi-stage technical interview covering data modeling, pipeline design, and system architecture.
Which visa types does Roblox commonly use for Data Contributor roles?
Roblox sponsors several visa categories for Data Contributors, including H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian nationals, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT including STEM OPT extensions. The Green Card pathway through EB-2 or EB-3 is also available for candidates seeking permanent residence after establishing tenure in the role.
What qualifications does Roblox expect for Data Contributor roles?
Roblox typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, statistics, data engineering, or a closely related field. Practical experience with large-scale data pipelines, SQL, Python, and distributed systems such as Spark or Kafka is expected. Familiarity with gaming or consumer platform data at scale is a differentiator, though not always a strict requirement.
How do I navigate the visa filing timeline after receiving a Roblox offer?
After an offer is extended, Roblox's immigration team or outside counsel typically initiates the Labor Condition Application with DOL before filing the USCIS petition. For H-1B cap cases, petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date. E-3 and TN petitions can move faster. Confirm your current status and authorized end date with your employer immediately so there's no gap in work authorization.
