Position Summary
The Production Scheduler is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and monitoring production activities to ensure efficient workflow across assigned work centers. This role ensures production packets are prepared accurately, materials are available, priorities are maintained, and all transactions are completed correctly in the system. The Production Scheduler works closely with Material Handlers, Production Leads, and other cross‑functional teams to support on‑time manufacturing and inventory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Packet Preparation & Dispatch
- Print, assemble, and issue production packets according to the daily/weekly production schedule.
- Dispatch packets to the appropriate work centers, ensuring all required documents and materials are included.
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of all documentation before releasing to the floor.
2. Work Center Priority Management
- Monitor and maintain the dispatch report for assigned work centers.
- Ensure the correct prioritization of work orders based on material availability, customer needs, and scheduling requirements.
- Communicate schedule changes or priority updates promptly to production teams.
3. Packet Closing & System Transactions
- Perform packet closing activities, including:
- Goods Issue (GI) completion
- Transfer Order (TO) confirmation
- Putaway confirmation
- Ensure all production transactions are completed in the system accurately and on time to support inventory integrity.
4. Material Coordination & Problem Resolution
- Work with Material Handling (MH) personnel to locate missing or misplaced materials.
- Verify that all materials follow proper routing and staging processes.
- Investigate and document any variances, deviations, or material discrepancies; communicate findings to the appropriate departments.
- Support root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts for production flow issues.
5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with planners, warehouse teams, production leads, and quality personnel to ensure smooth production operations.
- Provide proactive updates on material shortages, work order delays, or capacity constraints.
- Support daily production meetings with up‑to‑date scheduling and status information.
6. Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain compliance with company procedures, inventory control standards, and safety guidelines.
- Identify opportunities to enhance scheduling efficiency, documentation accuracy, and production flow.
- Assist with special projects and process improvement initiatives as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in production planning, scheduling, materials management, or manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of ERP or MES systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
