Tailor your resume for consulting project work
STV engineers are evaluated on project delivery and technical breadth across sectors like transit and infrastructure. Highlight cross-functional work, client-facing contributions, and systems you've built or maintained end-to-end, not just the tech stack.
Target software roles tied to funded projects
STV wins long-term government and infrastructure contracts that drive sustained engineering headcount. Roles attached to active project awards are more likely to support sponsorship because the hiring timeline and budget are already secured.
Align your timeline with H-1B cap deadlines
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS registration opens in March with an October 1 start date. Structure your offer and interview process to give STV enough runway to file before the registration window closes.
Use Migrate Mate to find open STV roles
STV posts Software Engineer positions across multiple locations and project divisions. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for STV roles that match your visa type, so you're not applying blind to positions without confirmed sponsorship support.

Find Software Engineer at STV JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does STV sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, STV sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles. As a professional services and consulting firm working on long-term infrastructure contracts, STV has an established process for supporting H-1B petitions. Sponsorship is tied to specific positions, so confirm with the recruiter during the offer stage that the role includes H-1B filing support before accepting.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at STV?
You can apply through STV's careers portal directly, or use Migrate Mate to browse verified Software Engineer openings at STV filtered by your visa type. Before applying, review the project domain the role supports, since STV hiring teams often look for engineers with relevant sector experience in transportation, environmental, or civil infrastructure.
Which visa types does STV commonly sponsor for Software Engineer roles?
STV sponsors H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Software Engineers, and also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for longer-term employees. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles. The right visa type depends on your nationality, current status, and how the role is classified under DOL specialty occupation standards.
What qualifications does STV expect from Software Engineer candidates?
STV typically hires Software Engineers with a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree must align with the specialty occupation definition under USCIS guidelines. Candidates with experience on government, infrastructure, or consulting projects are competitive, especially if you've worked across full-stack systems or data platforms.
How do I plan my timeline if I need STV to sponsor my visa?
If you need H-1B sponsorship, aim to have an offer in hand by February so STV can register you in the March USCIS lottery for an October 1 start. For TN status, the process is faster and can be completed at the border or port of entry. F-1 STEM OPT extensions require your employer to be enrolled in E-Verify, which STV is, but file with your DSO well before your current EAD expires.
