Get Your Credentials Evaluated Before Applying
If your construction engineering or project management degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved organization. Sundt's Superintendent roles typically require a degree in construction management or civil engineering, and a formal equivalency report removes hiring friction early.
Target Sundt's Active Project Regions Strategically
Sundt operates across Arizona, California, Texas, and the Mountain West. Focusing your applications on regions with active project pipelines increases your chances, since Superintendent hiring is tied directly to project awards and construction start dates rather than a centralized annual recruiting cycle.
Understand Which Visa Fits Your Citizenship
Canadian and Mexican nationals in construction management can pursue TN status under the USMCA engineer category, which avoids the H-1B lottery entirely. Confirm your specific job duties align with the TN engineer definition before assuming H-1B is your only sponsored path.
Use DOL LCA Data to Time Your Outreach
Search the DOL's FLAG system for Sundt's Labor Condition Application filings to identify which job titles and office locations they've sponsored in construction. This tells you where sponsorship activity has been real, not just stated policy, so you can target your outreach accordingly.
Clarify H-1B Timing Before Accepting an Offer
If you're on F-1 OPT when Sundt extends an offer, confirm whether your OPT expiration date aligns with the H-1B cap-subject October 1 start date. If the gap exceeds your grace period, ask your employer's immigration counsel about a cap-gap extension or a project-based start date adjustment.
Browse Sundt Openings Through Migrate Mate
Filter Construction Superintendent roles by visa type on Migrate Mate to find Sundt positions currently open to sponsored candidates. You can match openings to your specific visa category before applying, saving time on roles that don't align with your work authorization situation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sundt Construction sponsor H-1B visas for Construction Superintendents?
Yes, Sundt Construction has sponsored H-1B visas for construction professionals, including Superintendent-level roles. Because Superintendent positions require a specialty occupation classification, your employer must demonstrate the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field like construction management or civil engineering. Sundt's immigration process typically runs through a retained immigration law firm, so sponsorship decisions are made at the hiring manager and HR level jointly.
How do I apply for Construction Superintendent jobs at Sundt Construction?
Applications go through Sundt's careers portal at sundt.com, where you can filter by role and region. You can also browse verified openings filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate, which is useful if you want to confirm a role is open to sponsored candidates before investing time in a full application. Tailoring your resume to show field supervision experience, subcontractor management, and safety compliance directly increases your callback rate.
Which visa types does Sundt Construction commonly use for Construction Superintendent roles?
Sundt sponsors H-1B visas for specialty occupation roles, which Superintendent positions can qualify under when tied to a construction management or engineering degree. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for candidates still in their authorized training period. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles, and J-1 visas apply in specific exchange visitor contexts. The right visa depends on your citizenship, education, and current status.
What qualifications does Sundt Construction expect for Construction Superintendent roles?
Sundt typically looks for candidates with a degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, combined with hands-on field experience managing crews and subcontractors on commercial or heavy civil projects. OSHA 30 certification is commonly expected. For H-1B sponsorship, your degree must align directly with the Superintendent role's duties, so roles requiring general supervisory skills without a defined degree field are harder to sponsor successfully.
How do I handle the H-1B lottery timeline when targeting Sundt Construction?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year, with cap-subject employment starting October 1. If you're targeting Sundt, align your job search to be interview-ready by January or February so an offer can be in place before the registration window opens. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date against the October 1 start. A cap-gap extension covers you if your OPT expires after April 1 while your H-1B petition is pending.
