Align your credentials to U.S. construction standards
Sundt prioritizes Superintendents with field leadership experience on large commercial, industrial, or civil projects. Before applying, translate your international project experience into U.S.-recognized terms, including project value in USD and contract delivery methods like design-build or CMAR.
Target Sundt's active project regions strategically
Sundt operates across distinct geographic divisions. Identify which division has active projects matching your specialty, whether federal, transportation, or industrial, and direct your application there. Openings tied to active project pipelines move faster through internal hiring approval.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
H-1B sponsorship for Superintendent roles requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS rules. Confirm with your immigration attorney early that your specific role and responsibilities meet that standard, so there are no surprises when Sundt's legal team reviews the petition.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Superintendent roles
Sponsorship-eligible construction roles aren't always flagged on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to browse Sundt's verified open Superintendent positions and filter specifically for visa-sponsored opportunities, saving time you'd otherwise spend screening listings manually.
Prepare for TN or OPT timelines if they apply to you
Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status, which has no lottery and can be obtained at the border. F-1 OPT holders have a fixed authorization window, so start the application process early enough that your start date doesn't fall outside your remaining OPT period.
Get your project documentation ready before interviews
Sundt's hiring process for Superintendents involves detailed discussions of past project scope, team size, and delivery outcomes. Organize a project portfolio with concrete examples of schedule management and safety performance before you reach the offer stage, not after.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sundt Construction sponsor H-1B visas for Superintendents?
Yes, Sundt Construction sponsors H-1B visas for Superintendent roles. The key requirement is that the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it typically requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as construction management or civil engineering. Candidates with strong field leadership backgrounds and relevant degrees are best positioned to pursue this path.
Which visa types does Sundt Construction commonly use for Superintendent roles?
Sundt sponsors H-1B visas for eligible Superintendents and also supports F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visa holders. TN visa status is a practical option for Canadian and Mexican nationals working in qualifying engineering or management roles. F-1 OPT is commonly used for recent graduates entering the field, though the authorization period is limited and timing your start date carefully matters.
What qualifications and experience does Sundt Construction expect for Superintendent roles?
Sundt typically looks for Superintendents with hands-on field experience managing crews and subcontractors on large-scale commercial, industrial, federal, or civil construction projects. A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related discipline strengthens your application, particularly for H-1B sponsorship eligibility. Demonstrated experience with safety programs, project scheduling, and self-perform work is highly relevant to Sundt's project delivery model.
How do I apply for Superintendent jobs at Sundt Construction?
You can browse and apply for Superintendent positions at Sundt Construction directly through Migrate Mate, which lists their open roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect project scale, delivery method, and field leadership scope. Sundt operates across multiple regional divisions, so identifying the division with active projects in your specialty improves your chances of moving quickly through the process.
How do I time my application around H-1B filing deadlines?
The H-1B cap lottery opens in March each year for an October 1 start date. To be included, you need a filed petition by April 1, which means having a signed offer and a completed Labor Condition Application certified by the DOL weeks beforehand. If you're currently on OPT or CPT, confirm your authorization period covers the gap between your start date and the October 1 H-1B effective date.
