Frame your credentials around scientific commercial experience
Thermo Fisher's Partnerships Manager roles require fluency in life science or lab solutions markets, not just general business development. Tailor your resume to show experience managing partners in scientific research, biotech, or laboratory supply contexts before applying.
Target roles under Thermo Fisher's commercial divisions
Partnerships Manager openings span divisions like Specialty Diagnostics, Life Sciences Solutions, and the Clinical Research Organization segment. Identifying which division aligns with your background sharpens your application and signals to hiring managers that you understand their specific partner ecosystem.
Confirm your OPT or CPT timeline before interviewing
If you're on F-1 status, verify your OPT end date before accepting a final-round interview. Thermo Fisher runs structured hiring cycles, and a mismatch between your work authorization window and their onboarding schedule can complicate an otherwise strong offer.
Understand how Thermo Fisher structures H-1B filings
Thermo Fisher files H-1B petitions through the annual USCIS cap lottery, which opens in March with an October 1 start date. For Partnerships Manager roles classified as specialty occupations, having a directly related degree in business, life sciences, or a related field strengthens the petition's specialty occupation argument.
Prepare for a PERM-based Green Card discussion early
If long-term sponsorship matters to you, ask about Thermo Fisher's PERM labor certification process during the offer stage, not after signing. DOL requires advertising the role to U.S. workers before filing, so the earlier the employer initiates, the better your timeline looks.
Browse open roles through Migrate Mate before applying directly
Use Migrate Mate to filter Partnerships Manager openings at Thermo Fisher Scientific by visa type so you only invest time in roles that match your sponsorship needs. Applying with that context in hand makes your outreach to recruiters more targeted and efficient.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsor H-1B visas for Partnerships Managers?
Yes, Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsors H-1B visas for Partnerships Manager roles. These positions generally qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field such as business, life sciences, or engineering. Because H-1B sponsorship depends on the annual USCIS cap lottery, timing your job search around the March registration window is important if you're not already H-1B exempt.
How do I apply for Partnerships Manager jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Applications go through Thermo Fisher's careers portal at thermofisher.com/careers. Use Migrate Mate to identify which open Partnerships Manager roles explicitly support visa sponsorship before applying, so you're targeting positions where your status won't be a barrier. Tailoring your application to the specific division, whether Life Sciences, Diagnostics, or another segment, increases your chances of getting to a recruiter conversation.
Which visa types does Thermo Fisher Scientific commonly use for Partnerships Manager roles?
Thermo Fisher sponsors H-1B, TN visa, and F-1 OPT or CPT for Partnerships Manager positions, depending on the candidate's nationality and current status. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are available through the PERM labor certification process. TN visa is an option specifically for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories.
What qualifications does Thermo Fisher expect for a sponsored Partnerships Manager role?
Thermo Fisher typically looks for a bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or a related discipline, combined with experience managing channel partners, distributors, or strategic alliances in a scientific or healthcare context. Roles that involve cross-functional collaboration with product, legal, and commercial teams are common. For H-1B purposes, the degree field should align directly with the role's responsibilities to support the specialty occupation classification.
How do I understand the timeline from offer to starting work on a sponsored visa at Thermo Fisher?
If you need a new H-1B, the timeline depends on USCIS processing. Standard processing takes three to five months after the October 1 cap start date, while premium processing through USCIS reduces adjudication to 15 business days. If you're transferring an existing H-1B from another employer, Thermo Fisher can file a cap-exempt petition and you can begin work once USCIS receives the petition, before approval.
