Verify Your Credential Equivalency Early
UT Southwestern requires state-recognized Nursing Assistant certification. If your training was completed outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation through a NACES-approved agency before applying so hiring managers can confirm equivalency without delays.
Target Clinical Departments with Consistent Openings
Nursing Assistant demand at UT Southwestern is highest in inpatient units, oncology, and surgical services. Focusing your applications on these departments increases your chances of reaching a hiring manager actively seeking candidates rather than building a general waitlist.
Browse Open Roles Through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Nursing Assistant openings at UT Southwestern by visa type, so you can identify which roles align with your current status, whether F-1 OPT, TN, H-1B, or E-3, before investing time in a full application.
Clarify OPT Timeline with HR Before Accepting
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm with UT Southwestern's HR team that your remaining authorized period covers the onboarding window. USCIS allows a 60-day grace period after employment ends, but it doesn't extend your work authorization start date.
Understand How TN Status Applies to Your Role
TN visa eligibility for Nursing Assistants is narrow and depends on your country of citizenship and the specific duties listed in your offer letter. Review the DOL's USMCA occupation list and ensure your job description aligns before your employer initiates the process.
Request a Clear Sponsorship Timeline at Offer Stage
Ask UT Southwestern's immigration or HR contact to outline the filing sequence and expected USCIS processing windows before you sign. Academic medical centers often coordinate filings through in-house legal teams, so the timeline can differ from private-sector norms.

Find Nursing Assistant at UT Southwestern Medical Center JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does UT Southwestern Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for Nursing Assistants?
Yes, UT Southwestern Medical Center has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for roles across its health system, including Nursing Assistant positions. As an academic medical center, it qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer, which means petitions can be filed at any time of year without being subject to the annual lottery.
How do I apply for Nursing Assistant jobs at UT Southwestern Medical Center?
Applications are submitted through UT Southwestern's careers portal. Search for Nursing Assistant openings, review the unit-specific requirements, and tailor your application to the clinical setting listed. If you need visa sponsorship, note that in your application materials. You can also browse verified openings filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate before applying directly.
Which visa types does UT Southwestern Medical Center commonly use for Nursing Assistant roles?
UT Southwestern sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visas for positions including Nursing Assistants. H-1B is the most common long-term path. F-1 OPT and CPT are frequently used by students completing healthcare programs locally. E-3 applies to Australian citizens, and TN eligibility depends on the specific duties in the offer letter.
What qualifications does UT Southwestern Medical Center expect for Nursing Assistant positions?
UT Southwestern typically requires a current Texas Nurse Aide certification and Basic Life Support certification at minimum. Some units, particularly surgical or oncology floors, prefer candidates with prior acute care experience. If your training was completed internationally, a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved organization helps confirm equivalency before the interview stage.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for a Nursing Assistant role at UT Southwestern?
Because UT Southwestern is cap-exempt, H-1B petitions can be filed year-round without waiting for the April lottery. Standard USCIS processing runs several months, so starting conversations with HR well before your current status expires is important. Premium processing is available and can reduce USCIS adjudication to 15 business days if your timeline is tight.
