INTRODUCTION
Veeva Systems is a mission-driven organization and pioneer in industry cloud, helping life sciences companies bring therapies to patients faster. As one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in history, we surpassed $3B in revenue in our last fiscal year with extensive growth potential ahead.
At the heart of Veeva are our values: Do the Right Thing, Customer Success, Employee Success, and Speed. We're not just any public company – we made history in 2021 by becoming a public benefit corporation (PBC), legally bound to balancing the interests of customers, employees, society, and investors.
As a Work Anywhere company, we support your flexibility to work from home or in the office, so you can thrive in your ideal environment.
Join us in transforming the life sciences industry, committed to making a positive impact on its customers, employees, and communities.
THE ROLE
We are seeking an entrepreneurial, highly technical, and driven Lead QA Engineer to join our Services Tooling team. As part of an engineering team embedded within our Services business, you will help build and scale the internal platforms that power our global implementation consultants, including complex configuration and data migration tools.
As the founding QA engineer, you will define and build the QA strategy from scratch. You will develop automation frameworks to ensure GxP-compliant test evidence and traceability, while selecting tools, designing architecture, and setting quality standards. You will also lead innovation in AI-driven testing.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-ownership environments and enjoys solving complex data, cloud, and architectural challenges.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build from Scratch: Architect, design, and implement scalable test automation frameworks for both UI and API layers of our internal Spring Boot platforms.
- Innovate with AI: Spearhead our next-generation testing efforts by researching, designing, and creating AI testing agents to augment our automation (e.g., intelligent test generation, identifying edge cases, or self-healing pipelines).
- Solve Complex Problems: Act as the sole QA authority on the engineering team. When you hit a roadblock, you will be expected to research, prototype, and implement the solution independently.
- Automate Everything: Read and analyze complex system requirements to architect and automate comprehensive regression, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) test suites.
- Enable Compliance: Partner with our validation compliance members. You will ensure your automation framework generates the exact traceability, logs, and test evidence she needs to support GxP compliance and Validation Summary Reports.
- Automate the Pipeline: Integrate your test suites into our CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins/GitHub Actions) to ensure immediate feedback on every build.
- Collaborate Globally: Work closely with developers, business stakeholders, and compliance teams across time zones to understand complex technical requirements and edge cases.
REQUIREMENTS
- 7+ years of hands-on experience building test automation frameworks from the ground up; not inheriting or maintaining existing ones.
- Founding QA mindset is a must. You'll operate without a playbook, navigating ambiguous and uncharted technical territory. We need someone with the grit, resourcefulness, and raw problem-solving ability to figure things out independently and move fast.
- Proven ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into comprehensive automated test suites, including spanning integration, E2E, regression, and edge cases that others wouldn't think to test.
- Deep expertise in enterprise backend testing, including BDD with Gherkin/Cucumber against Java/Spring Boot applications, paired with strong command of modern UI automation tooling such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Strong API testing chops and experience handling large-scale datasets to assess with stress testing.
NICE TO HAVE
- Passion for or foundational experience with AI/ML, LLMs, or designing AI-driven testing agents.
- Knowledge of GxP compliance, Computer Systems Validation (CSV), or experience testing software in highly regulated industries (Life Sciences, Pharma, Finance). If you don't have this, you must simply have a strong willingness to collaborate with our compliance team to learn the requirements!
LOCATION
Veeva’s headquarters is located in the San Francisco Bay Area with offices in more than 15 countries around the world.
Veeva is an equal opportunity employer. Align your credentials to life sciences tooling
Veeva's Systems Engineer roles center on cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise SaaS infrastructure in a regulated industry. Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or GCP signal direct readiness for their environment before your application even reaches a recruiter.
Target roles outside pure product engineering
Veeva sponsors across infrastructure, DevOps, and platform reliability functions, not just software development. Searching for Systems Engineer openings in their Vault or commercial cloud divisions often surfaces roles with sponsorship eligibility that generalist tech job boards miss.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring roles
Not every Veeva Systems Engineer posting will explicitly state visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to surface positions at Veeva where sponsorship has been confirmed, so you focus your applications on roles where your visa type is already supported.
Clarify your OPT or CPT authorization early
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm with Veeva's recruiting team at the offer stage whether the role qualifies for STEM OPT extension. Systems Engineer positions in software infrastructure commonly meet STEM criteria, but verification before signing protects your timeline.
Understand the H-1B filing window relative to your offer
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March for an October 1 start. If Veeva extends you an offer after the registration window closes, negotiate a start date under your existing status or OPT while your H-1B petition is queued for the next fiscal year.
Request the Labor Condition Application details before signing
Before accepting an offer, ask Veeva's HR team to confirm the SOC code and prevailing wage level on your LCA. For Systems Engineer roles, the wage tier directly affects your H-1B approval, and mismatches between title and DOL wage data are a common source of RFEs.

Find Systems Engineer at Veeva Systems JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Veeva Systems sponsor H-1B visas for Systems Engineers?
Yes, Veeva Systems sponsors H-1B visas for Systems Engineer roles. The company has an established pattern of filing H-1B petitions for technical infrastructure positions, and their recruiting process is set up to handle international candidates. If you receive an offer, confirm the sponsorship scope with HR before your start date, particularly around premium processing timelines.
Which visa types does Veeva Systems commonly sponsor for Systems Engineer roles?
Veeva sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and TN visas for Systems Engineer positions, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for students. They also file employment-based Green Card petitions under EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-tenured engineers. The visa type you pursue depends on your nationality, current status, and career stage, so align your application accordingly.
How do I apply for Systems Engineer jobs at Veeva Systems?
Applications go through Veeva's careers portal. Browse open Systems Engineer roles, filter by location and function, and apply directly. Veeva's recruiting process typically includes a recruiter screen, technical assessment, and a panel interview covering cloud infrastructure, systems design, and domain knowledge. You can also find verified sponsoring Systems Engineer roles at Veeva on Migrate Mate before applying through the company portal.
What qualifications does Veeva Systems expect for Systems Engineer roles?
Most Systems Engineer positions at Veeva require a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related engineering field. Practical experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, configuration management tools, and familiarity with regulated software environments strengthens your candidacy. Roles supporting the Vault platform often expect experience with enterprise SaaS architecture or DevOps workflows.
How do I plan my timeline if Veeva Systems is sponsoring my H-1B?
If you need cap-subject H-1B sponsorship, USCIS registration runs in March, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest. Plan your offer and negotiations so your current status or F-1 OPT covers the gap. If your OPT expires before October 1, discuss cap-gap protection with Veeva's HR team, which extends your work authorization until your H-1B start date.
