We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Commercial Construction Site Supervisor to join our team as a leading General Contractor (GC). In this role, you will oversee field operations for commercial ground-up construction and interior build-out projects from inception to completion. Working closely with Project Managers and Subcontractors, you will ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship. . Key Responsibilities
- Field Management & Project Execution
- Direct daily field operations, trades, and subcontractors on commercial ground-up job sites to ensure full compliance with plans, specifications, and scope of work.
- Maintain the master project schedule by developing and managing 2-week look-ahead schedules, coordinating deliveries, and allocating job site resources.
- Represent the General Contractor (GC) during site inspections, working with local governing authorities to pass code inspections and prevent delays or fines.
- Evaluate workmanship, resolve field discrepancies, and manage change orders in collaboration with the Project Manager (PM).
Pre-Construction & Technology
- Conduct pre-construction plan reviews (RFIs, specs, subcontractor proposals, SOVs) and participate in turnover meetings.
- Utilize Procore daily for drawing reviews, photo documentation, daily logs, RFIs, and plan markups.
- Utilize job site technology, including 3D walkthroughs (Matterport/OpenSpace), drones, and time-management software.
Safety, Quality Control & Operations
- Enforce GC safety standards, Site-Specific Safety Plans, Job Site Analyses (JSA), and daily toolbox talks.
- Manage job site tool and material inventory, tracking unused items and monitoring project expenditures.
- Maintain professional client communication and uphold high team morale and operational standards.
Schedule, Travel & Perks
- Work Schedule: Availability for after-hours work and occasional weekends for occupied commercial spaces.
- Benefits/Perks: Lodging and per diems provided during travel; specialized tools provided by the company.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on carpentry or construction trade experience, with proven supervisory experience working for a General Contractor (GC) on commercial ground-up projects.
- Trade Knowledge: Strong practical understanding of foundations, structural carpentry, MEP (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC), roofing, and masonry.
- Document Mastery: Expert ability to read and interpret commercial blueprints, schematics, RFIs, and contract documents.
- Software: Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Excel, and construction management platforms (Procore preferred).
- Tools & Licensing: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record; must provide personal general hand and power tools (specialized tools provided).
- Travel: Out-of-town travel required as needed (typically traveling home every two weeks), with a focus on keeping supervisors in their home market whenever possible.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform strenuous physical labor on commercial job sites for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass a standard background check.
