ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Discoverability Content Specialist is a new role on Meijer’s Owned Media team responsible for establishing Meijer’s presence on the content surfaces that shape how AI assistants, search engines, and online communities recommend retailers to shoppers. As shopping behavior shifts toward AI-assisted discovery (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews) and toward community-led research on platforms (Reddit and Quora), this role ensures Meijer shows up as an authoritative, helpful, and trusted source in those conversations.
This role will help define Meijer’s discoverability strategy, develop the editorial and content roadmap, and partner with our GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and SEO teams on technical foundations (schema, structured content, citation signals). You will also produce content directly, writing on-site editorial guides, partnering with the social media team on content, and engaging in community channels, particularly in the early stages of the function while we build scale through agency partners and additional headcount.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support Meijer’s discoverability strategy across LLM-crawled surfaces (on-site editorial, organic social, community sites) and define the editorial roadmap aligned to seasonal priorities and weekly story hooks
- Establish and track the measurement framework for discoverability success, including AI citation rate, organic referral traffic from AI sources, share-of-voice in priority categories, and engagement on community surfaces
- Partner with brand and category planning to ensure discoverability content reflects current seasonal priorities and merchant focus areas
- Develop the long-term content pillar architecture (recipe content, expertise guides, seasonal planning, comparison content) that establishes Meijer’s authority in priority categories
- Shape, write and edit on-site editorial content — buying guides, how-to articles, seasonal planning content, category expertise — optimized for LLM citation and customer utility
- Partner with organic social content for platforms where AI assistants source recommendations, with format and voice appropriate to each platform
- Build a reusable content inventory that feeds the content bank and supports paid, owned, and earned surfaces
- Partner with the AI Center of Excellence on technical implementation of E-E-A-T signals, schema markup, llms.txt, and structured content standards across Meijer’s owned properties
- Work with SEO partners to ensure discoverability and traditional search efforts reinforce each other rather than compete
- Stay current on evolving LLM citation behavior, AI search ranking factors, and platform-specific signals; translate changes into actionable content updates
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5 years of experience in content strategy, editorial, SEO content, or digital brand publishing — ideally for a retailer, CPG brand, or consumer media property
- Demonstrated ability to develop content strategy AND execute against it; you’ve written content people read and shared, not just briefed it
- Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and a strong point of view on how AI search and LLM citation are reshaping content strategy
- Strong editorial instincts and the ability to write in a customer-first voice across formats — long-form guides, short-form social, conversational community engagement
- Comfortable with ambiguity and building a new function; this role will not have a playbook for the first six months

Mid Level Content Creator Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level content creator job?
Position your portfolio around ownership, not just execution. Highlight campaigns or content programs you led from brief to publish, the metrics you moved, and any collaboration across teams like design, paid media, or product. Employers at this level want evidence that you can set a content direction and follow it through without heavy direction, so lead with results and initiative over task lists.
Which companies hire mid level content creators?
Companies hiring mid level content creators right now include KR Wolfe, Carnegie Learning, and TikTok, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring covers in-house brand teams, media companies, and growth-stage startups that need experienced creators who can build and maintain a consistent content presence with limited oversight.
Are there remote mid level content creator jobs?
Yes, and remote options are strong at this experience level. About 50% of mid level content creator openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly content work translates across distributed teams. Mid level creators are often trusted to manage their own workflows, which makes them well-suited to remote arrangements.
How do I move up to a mid level content creator role?
Moving from entry level to mid level comes from deepening a specialization, such as SEO-driven editorial, short-form video, or brand storytelling, while taking on full ownership of at least one content channel or recurring series. Employers look for creators who have driven measurable results, collaborated cross-functionally, and shown they can manage a project from concept through performance review without step-by-step guidance.
Which industries hire the most mid level content creators?
Mid Level content creator roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Education, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026.
