Position Overview

Our retail client is seeking a hands-on Marketing Content Manager to lead content strategy and execution across its digital, promotional, educational, and video channels. This role will own the development of accurate, engaging content that strengthens Leslie's position as a trusted pool-care expert while helping the brand connect with current and emerging customer audiences. The Marketing Content Manager will manage the company blog and website content, write both long- and short-form marketing copy, advance SEO and answer engine optimization efforts, develop scripts for social and YouTube content, and oversee video projects produced by outside agency partners. This is an individual-contributor role for someone who can set direction, execute the work, and manage multiple content initiatives with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute an integrated content strategy across blogs, website content, organic social media, promotional marketing, email, video, and other customer-facing channels.
- Own the editorial calendar and manage content from concept and research through writing, review, approval, publication, and ongoing optimization.
- Write, edit, and publish long-form educational content, including blogs, articles, buying guides, how-to content, and other pool-care resources.
- Create concise, conversion-focused marketing copy for promotional campaigns, website pages, email, product messaging, headlines, calls to action, and related digital assets.
- Manage and maintain website content, ensuring information remains accurate, current, easy to navigate, and aligned with brand and business priorities.
- Apply SEO and answer engine optimization best practices to improve content visibility across traditional search engines and AI-powered discovery experiences.
- Conduct keyword, audience, and competitive research and use insights to guide content topics, structure, metadata, internal linking, and optimization priorities.
- Develop scripts, talking points, and content guidance for associates and subject-matter experts appearing in organic social and educational content.
- Write scripts and supporting content for YouTube and other video channels, balancing technical accuracy with approachable storytelling.
- Manage video production performed by outside agency partners, including creative briefs, schedules, reviews, feedback, approvals, and final deliverables.
- Partner with in-store associates, internal experts, and cross-functional teams to research pool-care topics and validate technical information.
- Serve as the marketing department's content gatekeeper, maintaining consistent voice, messaging, quality, and factual accuracy across channels.
- Collaborate with creative, digital, social, e-commerce, merchandising, retail, and agency partners to support integrated campaigns and seasonal priorities.
- Use content performance data to identify opportunities, improve engagement, and refine future content strategy.
- Recommend content approaches that resonate with millennial customers and other priority audiences while remaining relevant to Leslie's broader customer base.

Required Qualifications

- A minimum of three years of professional content marketing, copywriting, digital marketing, communications, or related experience; three to five years is preferred.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating both long-form educational writing and short-form promotional or conversion-focused copy.
- Demonstrated ability to develop content strategy and independently execute against it.
- Experience managing blog and website content through a content management system.
- Working knowledge of SEO, including keyword research, on-page optimization, metadata, content structure, and performance measurement.
- Familiarity with answer engine optimization and writing content for AI-powered search and discovery experiences.
- Experience writing scripts for video, social media, subject-matter experts, or other multimedia content.
- Experience coordinating external agencies, freelancers, or production partners and managing projects through completion.
- Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, research, and fact-checking skills.
- Ability to learn technical subject matter and translate it into clear, useful, customer-friendly content.
- Strong project-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives, stakeholders, and deadlines.
- A collaborative working style combined with the confidence to provide editorial direction and maintain content standards.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with a retail, consumer, e-commerce, home-care, home-improvement, or lifestyle brand.
- Experience developing educational content for products or services that require technical accuracy.
- Experience supporting high-volume promotional or seasonal marketing calendars.
- Knowledge of video production workflows and best practices for YouTube content.
- Experience using web analytics, SEO platforms, or content-performance tools to inform decisions.
- An understanding of how millennial audiences discover, evaluate, and engage with educational and promotional content.
