Hello, we’re Instrumentl. 👋 Nonprofits do some of the most important work in the world, and most of them are still managing grants in spreadsheets. We're fixing that. Instrumentl is a profitable, hypergrowth, YC-backed SaaS platform building the operating system for grant-funded organizations. More than 5,500 nonprofits use Instrumentl to discover, track, and win grant funding, from local community organizations to the San Diego Zoo and the University of Alaska. Collectively they’ve moved over $1 billion through our platform. We're growing quickly, customers love us (check out our G2 reviews!), and we're hiring people who want to build something that matters.
About The Role
We’re hiring a Senior Content Marketing Manager, reporting to the Senior Product Marketing Manager, to own Instrumentl’s content ecosystem as we evolve from a grant discovery tool into a full-lifecycle grant operating system. You’ll steward our editorial vision and brand voice across every channel, drive full-funnel growth, and shape how nonprofits discover and trust Instrumentl as the platform they can’t live without.
SEO & Organic Growth:
- Partner with growth product, agencies, and freelancers to grow SEO and GEO traffic quarter over quarter
- Guide keyword and topic strategy, set the bar for editorial quality, and develop subject matter expertise in grants and nonprofit fundraising
- Stay current on how generative search is reshaping content distribution and bring a POV on what to test
Editorial & Brand:
- Develop and steward Instrumentl’s editorial vision and brand voice across blog, newsletter, social, and events
- Build and run a content calendar where every asset earns its keep, turning one webinar or report into downstream pieces across channels
- Get hands-on with the highest-leverage work: original research, product copy, and flagship pieces where editorial judgment matters most
Full-funnel Content & AI Workflows:
- Partner with product marketing and growth on ad campaigns, gated assets, landing pages, sales collateral, and nurture sequences
- Set up AI workflows the rest of the team can use to draft and QA on-brand copy quickly without diluting our voice
- Manage a roster of freelancers and agencies to execute at scale
Required
What we're looking for
- 6+ years of experience in content marketing or content strategy
- Experience owning both demand-gen content (SEO, gated assets) and editorial/brand-building content (thought leadership, original research)
- SEO and GEO fluency: keyword strategy, on-page execution, and technical SEO basics
- Strong writer with editorial judgment: you can spot AI slop, surface-level filler, or a clunky sentence at a glance
- Ability to quickly develop subject matter expertise in a complex domain through research and SME interviews
Nice to Have
- Experience with nonprofit, social impact, or mission-driven organizations
- Background in grants, fundraising, or nonprofit operations
- Experience managing freelancers and agency relationships
Compensation & Benefits
For US-based candidates, the target salary range for this role is $ 125,000 – $155,000 USD, plus equity. Final compensation is determined based on experience, skillset, scope of responsibility, interview performance, and geographic location. We’re committed to paying competitively and equitably.
Benefits
- 100% covered health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (50% for dependents)
- Generous PTO, including parental leave
- 401(k)
- Company laptop and home-office stipend
- Bi-annual company retreats

Senior Level Content Marketing Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior level content marketing manager job?
Employers at this level look for candidates who have owned a content program end to end, not just contributed to one. A portfolio that shows measurable impact, such as pipeline growth, audience expansion, or content-driven revenue, carries more weight than title alone. Experience leading writers or editors, setting editorial standards, and aligning content strategy to business goals gives candidates a clear edge over mid-level applicants.
Which companies hire senior level content marketing managers?
Companies hiring senior level content marketing managers right now include Abbott, Stripe, and Mindgruve, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of large enterprises building in-house content operations and growth-stage companies scaling content as a core demand generation channel.
Are there remote senior level content marketing manager jobs?
Yes, remote and hybrid options are widely available at the senior level. About 25% of senior level content marketing manager openings are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how many organizations have restructured content teams around distributed work. Senior candidates with strong async communication skills and experience managing remote contributors are well positioned for these roles.
What makes a content marketing manager role senior level?
Senior level content marketing manager roles are defined by ownership and scope. Expectations shift from executing campaigns to setting the content strategy, establishing editorial standards, and measuring program performance against business outcomes. These roles typically include cross-functional leadership, budget authority, and responsibility for mentoring junior and mid-level team members, making strategic judgment and communication skills as important as content craft.
Which industries hire the most senior level content marketing managers?
Senior level content marketing manager roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Retail, and Banking & Financial Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. These sectors invest heavily in content as a scalable demand generation and brand authority channel, which drives consistent demand for experienced professionals who can lead programs rather than simply produce content.
