POSITION OVERVIEW

The Enrollment Communications and Digital Content Specialist manages day-to-day execution of our admissions communications program in Slate, working at the intersection of enrollment marketing, data, and content. This role pairs persuasive, on-brand storytelling with data-driven execution — building and testing email and SMS campaigns, maintaining the data dictionary and query library with our CRM captain, and keeping a reporting cadence with reliable attribution — continuously advising on how to optimize campaigns in service of our broader enrollment strategy, so senior staff can focus on funnel-wide direction and where digital marketing goes next. Beyond admissions communications, this person also makes recruitment-focused updates to website copy and manages requests from faculty and staff for email communications to families of current students.

We're looking for someone who treats this as more than a queue of send requests: someone who looks at performance data and asks what to try next, flags friction points before they're raised, and brings ideas for testing, personalization, and refinement without waiting to be asked. This is a full-time, in-person role.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Email/SMS communication — Build, deploy, and manage all Slate Deliver communications for admissions, including merge fields, Liquid markup for dynamic/conditional content, and population-based logic.
• Content and storytelling — Draft persuasive, on-brand copy across email, SMS, and web that turns admissions and campus information into a compelling case for prospective students and families to act, partnering with counselors, faculty, and other stakeholders to keep it accurate and timely.
• Calendar and coordination — Manage the admissions email communications calendar (prospect through enrollment/yield), coordinating timing with recruitment, financial aid, and events, and partnering with enrollment leadership so communications complement rather than duplicate counselor outreach.
• Digital content — Keep website copy and recruitment communications aligned with the enrollment cycle and current recruitment initiatives and marketing campaigns, creating and updating content across both platforms as those priorities shift.
• Conversion optimization — Look for ways to align content with the action we want a prospect to take next, flagging friction points and recommending improvements — including new or updated lead-generation ideas — based on campaign performance data.
• Quality assurance — Test email and SMS sends for design, layout, and accurate Liquid markup rendering across devices and email clients before deployment.
• Data dictionary and segmentation — Manage and expand the admissions data dictionary and supporting query library in coordination with the CRM/data team, maintaining segment definitions (scholarship eligibility, area of interest, distance from campus, engagement history, etc.) for accurate, personalized targeting.
• Testing and reporting — Design and run a recurring A/B testing program on subject lines, send times, content, and CTAs, documenting results as institutional best practice. Establish and maintain a regular campaign performance reporting cadence — click-through rates, opt-out/spam rates, deliverability, conversions where possible (visit registrations, form submissions, etc) — with consistent UTM/source tracking for accurate attribution.
• Future focus — Pilot new tactics to build on current momentum and set us apart in the competitive landscape.
• Partner communications — Review content from our enrollment marketing partner and develop feedback and recommendations to keep messaging aligned with our brand and enrollment strategy.
• Current-family communications — Manage requests from faculty and staff for email communications to families of current students, ensuring timely, accurate, and on-brand messaging.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Bachelor's degree required
• A skilled, persuasive communicator with a strong command of brand voice and guidelines — able to turn admissions and campus information into compelling, action-oriented copy across email, web, and other channels, for audiences ranging from prospective students to families of current students.
• Experience building and managing email and/or SMS marketing campaigns; direct experience with Slate, or a comparable CRM/marketing automation platform.
• Comfort working with merge fields, conditional/dynamic content logic (e.g., Liquid markup), and query-based segmentation, or a demonstrated ability to learn these quickly.
• Experience with, or aptitude for, basic website content management and copywriting for a recruitment/marketing audience.
• An analytical mindset — comfort reading campaign performance data (A/B test results, funnel and conversion metrics) and drawing practical conclusions from it.
• Excellent organization and cross-functional collaboration skills; this role coordinates closely with recruitment, financial aid, events, faculty and staff, and an external marketing partner.
• A proactive, curious approach — someone who looks for what could be tested, personalized, or improved rather than waiting to be asked.

Preferred

• Master's degree preferred
• Prior experience in higher education admissions or enrollment marketing.
• Working knowledge of HTML/CSS — comfortable editing code within email templates to add Liquid markup and show or hide content blocks without breaking the template's design or send.
• Experience building or maintaining a data dictionary or audience segmentation framework.
