COO Jobs in Kansas City: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a coo job in Kansas City?
The strongest path to a coo role in Kansas City runs through its healthcare systems, regional banks, and logistics companies, which consistently hire senior operations leaders. Candidates who have managed multi-site teams or overseen supply chain functions stand out in this market. Networking through the Kauffman Foundation ecosystem and local chambers also opens doors that job boards alone won't.
Which companies hire coos in Kansas City?
Companies currently hiring coos in Kansas City include KIPP Kansas City, Children's Mercy Hospitals & Clinics, and CBIZ, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas City's employer base skews toward regional health networks, insurance carriers, and logistics and distribution firms that need experienced operations executives.
Are there remote coo jobs in Kansas City?
Yes, though coo roles are typically hands-on and leadership-intensive, which limits fully remote options compared to purely analytical positions. About 13% of coo openings tied to Kansas City are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at tech-forward and financial services firms in the Crossroads and downtown corridors. Operational oversight and team leadership components almost always require some in-person presence.
How can I get a coo job in Kansas City with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an operations manager or director of operations role at one of Kansas City's mid-size logistics, healthcare, or manufacturing companies, then building toward the coo level. Local employers in the freight and distribution sector frequently promote from within, and regional health systems offer structured leadership development programs. Volunteering for cross-functional project leadership also builds the operational breadth Kansas City employers look for.
Which industries hire the most coos in Kansas City?
Most coo openings in Kansas City sit in Education, Consulting & Professional Services, and Accounting & Auditing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas City's position as a central freight hub and its concentration of regional health networks and financial institutions consistently drive demand for senior operations leadership across those sectors.
