Counselor Jobs in Dallas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a counselor job in Dallas?
Focus your search on Dallas's largest hiring sectors: public school districts, hospital-affiliated behavioral health programs, Veterans Affairs facilities, and nonprofit community agencies concentrated in the Medical District and South Dallas. Candidates with experience in trauma-informed care or bilingual Spanish counseling stand out in this market. Tailoring your application to the specific population each employer serves gives you a meaningful edge over general submissions.
Which companies hire counselors in Dallas?
Companies currently hiring counselors in Dallas include Parkland Health, Citi, and AssureSource, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Dallas's counselor market draws from a broad mix of large health systems, independent school districts, and community-based nonprofits, giving candidates multiple hiring pipelines to pursue simultaneously.
Are there remote counselor jobs in Dallas?
Yes, though remote availability is limited for roles requiring in-person client contact, such as school-based or residential counseling. About 71% of counselor openings tied to Dallas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with telehealth behavioral health and employee assistance program roles accounting for the largest share of fully remote positions.
How can I get a counselor job in Dallas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Dallas is through supervised internship or practicum placements at community mental health centers, Dallas ISD, or nonprofits serving underserved populations in South and West Dallas. Many of these organizations hire interns into paid associate or case manager roles upon graduation. Volunteering at crisis hotlines or youth-serving agencies in the city also builds the local professional network that leads to full-time offers.
