CPT Account Coordinator Jobs
Account Coordinator roles in advertising, PR, and marketing agencies are among the most CPT-accessible positions for F-1 students in communications and business programs. Your DSO must confirm the role is integral to your curriculum before you start, and CPT authorization is employer-specific, so a new offer means a new authorization.

Get Access To All JobsAccount Coordinator CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Account Coordinator role qualify for CPT?
Yes, if your degree program in communications, marketing, business, or a related field includes coursework in client relations, campaign management, or media planning, an Account Coordinator role will typically satisfy the integral curriculum requirement. Your DSO makes the final determination based on your specific program requirements, so bring documentation connecting your coursework to the job duties.
Can I do CPT at a small boutique agency, or do I need a large company?
CPT authorization is not tied to employer size. A boutique PR or digital agency qualifies just as well as a large media conglomerate, provided the role is legitimate, the employer can provide a real offer letter, and the duties align with your curriculum. Smaller agencies often offer more hands-on account management experience that maps cleanly to academic learning objectives.
How do I find Account Coordinator roles where employers understand CPT?
Search Migrate Mate to browse Account Coordinator openings filtered for employers familiar with F-1 work authorization. Look specifically for agencies and marketing firms that have hired international students before, since those employers already know CPT doesn't require them to file anything with USCIS, which makes the hiring process faster for both sides.
What happens to my CPT authorization if the agency changes my start date?
Your CPT authorization is tied to the specific start and end dates on your I-20 endorsement. If the employer pushes your start date back, you need a revised offer letter and a new DSO authorization before you begin work. Starting before or outside your authorized dates is a status violation, so confirm the exact timeline with your DSO whenever the offer terms change.
Does my employer need to do anything with USCIS to hire me on CPT?
No. CPT is authorized entirely through your school and DSO, not through USCIS. Your employer doesn't file a petition or pay any government fees. The employer's only obligation is to verify your work authorization using Form I-9, where you present your CPT-endorsed I-20 and F-1 visa documentation. E-Verify enrollment by the employer handles the electronic confirmation step automatically.
