Get Access To All JobsAccount Operations Manager CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Account Operations Manager role qualify for CPT authorization?
It can, but your DSO makes the final call. The role must be an integral part of your enrolled curriculum, not just related to your major. Operations, business administration, and supply chain programs typically support this designation. Bring the full job description to your DSO meeting and highlight the overlap with your required coursework, not just your electives.
Can I do CPT for an Account Operations Manager role while taking classes?
Yes, if your program allows part-time CPT concurrent with enrollment. Part-time CPT is defined as fewer than 20 hours per week and does not affect OPT eligibility. Full-time CPT requires you to be enrolled and only counts toward your program if your school explicitly offers a co-op or practicum credit for it. Confirm the credit requirement with your DSO before negotiating your schedule.
What documents do I need to start a CPT position as an Account Operations Manager?
You need an updated I-20 with CPT authorization showing your employer's name, the start and end dates, and whether the authorization is full-time or part-time. Your employer will also need a copy for their I-9 verification. Most schools require a formal offer letter and a signed DSO authorization request form before they'll issue the updated I-20, so start that paperwork as soon as you have a written offer.
How do I find Account Operations Manager roles that are open to F-1 CPT students?
Search on Migrate Mate, which filters for employers with work authorization history so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with F-1 CPT requirements. When you reach the offer stage, confirm the employer is enrolled in E-Verify and can accommodate your CPT start date, which is tied to your I-20 authorization date, not your acceptance date.
Will taking CPT for this role affect my OPT or H-1B eligibility later?
Part-time CPT has no effect on OPT eligibility regardless of how long you use it. Full-time CPT used for 12 months or more eliminates OPT eligibility entirely. H-1B visa eligibility is unaffected by CPT. If you're planning to use OPT after graduation, track your full-time CPT days carefully and confirm the running total with your DSO each semester.
