CPT Full Stack Engineer Jobs
Full Stack Engineer CPT jobs let F-1 students apply front-end and back-end development skills in roles that must directly tie to your enrolled degree program. Your DSO must authorize each CPT position before you start work, and the role must appear as an integral part of your curriculum, not a side arrangement.

Get Access To All JobsFull Stack Engineer CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Full Stack Engineer role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if your degree program includes coursework in software development, computer science, or a related field and the role's duties connect directly to that curriculum. Your DSO makes the final determination, so bring the job description and a written explanation of how the work integrates with your current courses when you request authorization.
Can I do CPT at a startup or small tech company, or does it need to be a large employer?
Employer size doesn't affect CPT eligibility. The authorization is tied to your curriculum, not the company's headcount or structure. That said, smaller employers sometimes lack HR familiarity with CPT paperwork. Confirm the hiring manager understands you need a compliant offer letter before your DSO can approve, and give them a checklist of required details upfront.
How do I find Full Stack Engineer jobs where the employer already understands CPT?
Migrate Mate lists Full Stack Engineer roles filtered by employers with LCA filing history, which signals familiarity with work-authorization processes for international students. Targeting these employers reduces the back-and-forth over CPT documentation and increases the chance the recruiter knows what an I-20 endorsement actually means.
What happens to my CPT authorization if the Full Stack Engineer role shifts to a different tech stack mid-internship?
Your CPT authorization covers the role as described in your offer letter. If the job duties shift substantially, for example from front-end React work to DevOps infrastructure, your DSO may need to review whether the updated duties still satisfy your curriculum requirement. Notify your DSO proactively rather than waiting until a renewal or OPT application surfaces the discrepancy.
Does using more than 12 months of full-time CPT actually eliminate my OPT eligibility?
Yes. USCIS regulations state that 12 or more months of full-time CPT eliminates OPT eligibility entirely for that degree level. Part-time CPT, defined as under 20 hours per week, does not count toward that limit regardless of how many semesters you use it. Track your cumulative full-time CPT hours carefully, because reversing an OPT ineligibility determination isn't possible after the fact.
