BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must be rising juniors, seniors, or graduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university during the Summer 2027 internship program (June 7 - August 6, 2027).
- Students who graduate before June 7, 2027, are not eligible for the program.
- Must be able to reside in the Memphis area for the duration of the internship. Relocation assistance is available for eligible non-local students.
- Non-local students are defined as those who do not have available family housing in the Memphis area and whose college or university is not located in Memphis.
- Applicants should apply to no more than two internship roles that best align with their interests, skills, and experience. If you are uncertain which department is the best fit, please use this general application.

Does a General Manager role qualify for CPT authorization?
It depends on how your school defines curriculum integration. General Manager roles that involve strategic planning, financial oversight, or organizational leadership typically align with MBA or management programs. Your DSO needs to confirm the position directly relates to your enrolled major and that the experience is a required or elective program component, not just incidental work.
Can I do CPT as a General Manager if my degree is not in business?
Yes, but the connection between your degree field and the role has to be defensible. An operations management role within a tech company could qualify for a computer science student if the work involves systems management or product operations. Your DSO will review the job description against your I-20 program, so be prepared to explain the academic connection in writing.
What documents do I need to start a General Manager CPT position?
You need a signed offer letter with your start date, employer name, and job title; an updated I-20 with CPT authorization endorsed by your DSO; and your current F-1 visa and I-94 showing valid status. Some employers also request your EAD or SEVIS record confirmation. Get CPT authorization on your I-20 before your first day, working before authorization is a status violation.
