Our Global Investment Banking business provides strategic advisory and capital-raising solutions to clients across industries. The Summer Analyst Program is designed to provide participants with hands-on experience supporting the work of a full-time Investment Banking analyst, including financial analysis, industry research, client presentations and transaction execution. This 2028 opportunity is specifically for candidates interested in the Natural Resources & Energy Transition (NET) group in Houston.
During the summer, you will be placed with the Natural Resources & Energy Transition (NET) team in Houston. Your training and development are a top priority, with extensive formal training offered at the start of the program, as well as on-the-job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout the summer.
As a summer analyst, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Developing and maintaining complex financial models
- Performing various financial analyses, including valuations and merger consequences
- Conducting comprehensive and in-depth company and industry research
- Preparation of presentation and other materials for clients
- Participation in due diligence sessions, communication and interaction with deal team members
- Management of several projects at once and work effectively as an individual and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Candidates are required to be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or a Bachelor’s direct to Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a graduation time frame between November 2028 and August 2029
- Must demonstrate a track record of superior performance in extracurricular and professional activities
- 3.5 minimum GPA preferred
- Must have a combination of strong quantitative/analytical skills, attention to detail and client focus
- Strategic and creative thinking; distinguished written and oral communications skills
- Assertiveness, initiative, leadership, strong work ethic, team focus
- Ability to learn quickly and take on new responsibilities
- Dedication to building a career in the investment banking industry

Does an investment banking internship qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if the internship duties directly relate to your enrolled program of study and your school confirms the role is an integral part of your curriculum. Your DSO will require an offer letter describing finance-specific responsibilities such as financial modeling, pitch book preparation, or due diligence work. Generic business internship language typically isn't sufficient for authorization.
Can I do a full-time summer analyst program on CPT?
You can, but full-time CPT used for 12 months or more makes you ineligible for OPT. Most F-1 students in investment banking use full-time CPT only for one summer to preserve OPT eligibility. If you're planning a second summer program, discuss the cumulative timing with your DSO before accepting an offer.
What documents does an investment bank typically need from an F-1 CPT student?
