We are currently seeking a purpose-driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as a Lab Assistant Intern (full-time, 40hrs per week in the Summer and part-time, 15-20 hours per week during the school year). This position will be in Rolla, MO.
SUMMARY
Conducts laboratory analyses, experiments, and processes to support research and development projects.
Responsibilities
- Takes ownership of small development sub-projects as assigned.
- Designs and conducts experiments, including instrument operation, sample preparation, and performance characterization, under minimal supervision.
- Processes data and provides analysis summary and may present results at group meetings.
- Creates new testing processes and improves upon current processes.
- Knowledge and understanding of safety and housekeeping standards and practiced in daily activities.
- Learn and keep familiar with lab procedures.
- Responsible for communicating with supervisor and team members, also may be assigned to cross-functional teams.
CREDENTIALS AND EDUCATION
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate with laboratory experience, and currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.

Can I work in a clinical or hospital lab on CPT?
You can, but clinical lab positions may require additional credentialing steps beyond CPT authorization. Some hospitals require proof of immunization records, HIPAA training, or a background check before your start date. None of these affect your F-1 status, but they can delay onboarding, so ask HR for the full pre-employment checklist before accepting the offer.

Can I switch lab employers mid-semester while on CPT?
You can change employers, but each new employer requires a separate CPT authorization on an updated I-20. Your previous CPT authorization is tied to the specific employer listed by your DSO. Switching labs mid-semester means returning to your DSO, providing the new job offer letter, and waiting for an updated I-20 before you can begin work at the new location.
