Does a Regional Director role qualify for CPT authorization?
It can, but your DSO must confirm the position directly integrates with your degree curriculum. Regional Director roles involve strategic oversight, multi-site operations, and budget accountability, which align well with MBA, public administration, or organizational leadership programs. You'll need to document how each core responsibility maps to specific coursework or learning outcomes your program requires.
Can I do CPT as a Regional Director if the role is fully remote?
Yes, CPT can be authorized for remote positions as long as the work is integral to your curriculum and your DSO approves it. The physical location doesn't affect eligibility, but the employer's legal address and your ability to demonstrate active, supervised work in a defined scope matter for both CPT compliance and future H-1B visa filings.
How do I find Regional Director employers open to CPT students?
Most Regional Director postings don't mention CPT by name. Search Migrate Mate to identify employers who have sponsored international employees before, which is a reliable signal they understand work authorization requirements. Focus on companies where regional operations leadership is a defined function, such as retail, healthcare, logistics, and nonprofit sectors with multi-state presence.
Will 12 months of CPT as Regional Director affect my OPT eligibility?
Yes. If you use 12 or more months of full-time CPT, you lose your standard OPT eligibility entirely. Part-time CPT doesn't count toward this limit. If you're considering a full-time Regional Director CPT role that extends across multiple semesters, calculate your total CPT usage carefully with your DSO before committing to the offer.
What should the offer letter include for CPT authorization of a Regional Director position?
Your DSO typically requires the employer's legal name and address, your job title, a description of duties, the exact start and end dates, whether the role is full-time or part-time, and confirmation that the position is paid. For a Regional Director role, include specifics about geographic scope and reporting structure so the DSO can assess curriculum alignment.
