CPT Developer Evangelist Jobs
Developer Evangelist CPT jobs let F-1 students apply technical communication, API documentation, and community-building skills directly to their degree program. Your DSO must authorize CPT before you start, and the role must be an integral part of your curriculum, not a side project. Many positions are full-time and tied to a specific semester or co-op term.

Get Access To All JobsDeveloper Evangelist CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Developer Evangelist role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if your school's curriculum includes courses in technical communication, software development, or community management, a Developer Evangelist role can qualify. The work must be an integral part of your degree program, not just related to your field. Your DSO makes the final determination, so bring your job description and course syllabi to the authorization meeting.
How do I find Developer Evangelist employers familiar with CPT?
Search on Migrate Mate, which filters Developer Evangelist postings by employers with verified work-authorization history. Companies that have previously hired F-1 students on CPT or OPT already understand the authorization timeline and won't stall an offer waiting for a lawyer to explain your status.
Can I do full-time CPT as a Developer Evangelist without losing OPT eligibility?
Accumulating 12 or more months of full-time CPT, defined as 20 or more hours per week, eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. Many F-1 students in Developer Evangelist co-op programs structure their CPT as part-time across multiple semesters or keep any single full-time block under 12 months. Confirm your running total with your DSO before accepting a full-time offer.
What documents does my employer need to complete CPT onboarding?
Your employer needs your CPT-authorized I-20, which lists the specific employer name, authorized dates, and whether the CPT is part-time or full-time. They'll also need your passport and any standard I-9 employment eligibility documents. If they're enrolled in E-Verify, they'll run your information through that system, which pulls directly from DHS records.
Does CPT for a Developer Evangelist role affect my future H-1B path?
CPT itself doesn't affect H-1B visa eligibility, but the role's SOC classification matters later. Developer Evangelist positions that your employer classifies under a specialty occupation code, such as software developer or technical writer, are better positioned for H-1B sponsorship than roles coded as general marketing or sales. Review your O*NET occupation profile to understand how your role is typically classified before accepting an offer.
