CPT Sales Development Representative Jobs
Sales Development Representative roles qualify for CPT when the work ties directly to a business, marketing, or communications degree program and your DSO authorizes it before your start date. SDR positions at SaaS and B2B companies regularly hire CPT students for full-time and part-time engagements, making this one of the more accessible paths for F-1 students in sales-adjacent fields.

Get Access To All JobsSales Development Representative CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Sales Development Representative role qualify for CPT?
Yes, if the position connects directly to your degree program and your DSO confirms it meets the integral curriculum requirement. SDR roles typically align with business, marketing, communications, and information systems programs. Your offer letter should describe specific duties, such as prospecting, CRM management, or pipeline reporting, that your DSO can map to coursework.
Can I do CPT as an SDR at a startup with no prior visa sponsorship history?
CPT authorization depends on your school's approval, not the employer's sponsorship history. Startups with no prior H-1B visa or OPT experience can still hire you on CPT. The risk is post-graduation: if you want the employer to sponsor H-1B status later, confirm early whether they're willing to engage an immigration attorney and enroll in E-Verify.
How do I find SDR employers who are comfortable with CPT students?
Migrate Mate shows employers with verified visa filing history, which is a practical proxy for work authorization familiarity. Companies that have previously filed LCAs or sponsored H-1B workers are more likely to understand CPT paperwork timelines and less likely to rescind offers when you explain the DSO authorization process.
What happens if my CPT end date doesn't match my actual last day at the company?
Working beyond your CPT authorization end date constitutes unauthorized employment and creates a SEVIS violation. If the role is extending, return to your DSO before the current authorization expires and request a new CPT endorsement for the additional period. Don't rely on your employer's HR team to track this deadline.
Is part-time CPT better than full-time CPT for an SDR internship?
If the SDR role is a summer internship or semester engagement, part-time CPT preserves your full 12 months of OPT eligibility for after graduation. Full-time CPT used across 12 or more cumulative months eliminates OPT entirely. Discuss the weekly hours with your DSO and structure the offer accordingly if post-graduation work authorization matters to your plan.
