Get Access To All JobsSnack Bar Attendant CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Snack Bar Attendant role qualify for CPT?
It qualifies if your enrolled program has a direct curricular connection to the work, such as hospitality management, food service operations, nutrition, or recreation administration. Your DSO makes the final determination based on your specific degree plan. A generic food-handling job with no link to your coursework will not qualify, so bring course descriptions to your DSO meeting.
Can I work at an off-campus snack bar on CPT?
Yes, CPT allows off-campus employment as long as your DSO authorizes it and the employer name appears on your updated I-20. Off-campus sites like stadium concessions, amusement parks, or community recreation centers all qualify provided the curricular connection holds. Confirm the employer is enrolled in E-Verify before your first shift to avoid I-9 complications.
How do I find Snack Bar Attendant jobs that accept CPT students?
Search Migrate Mate for Snack Bar Attendant openings filtered by employers who have previously hired F-1 students. Campus dining operations, aquatic centers, and university-affiliated sports facilities are the most CPT-familiar employers in this category. Reaching out to hiring managers who already know the I-20 authorization process shortens the onboarding timeline significantly.
Does working full-time as a Snack Bar Attendant on CPT affect my OPT?
Full-time CPT authorization of 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely, per USCIS regulations. Part-time CPT, defined as 20 hours per week or less during an active term, does not count toward that 12-month threshold regardless of how many semesters you use it. Track your total authorized full-time CPT hours carefully across all employers and semesters.
What documents does a Snack Bar Attendant employer need from me on day one?
You need your valid passport, your current I-20 with CPT authorization listed for that specific employer, and your F-1 visa stamp. The employer completes Form I-9 using these documents. If the facility uses E-Verify, the electronic verification should match the name and document numbers exactly as they appear on your I-20 and passport.
