Does a supply chain optimization role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if the work ties directly to a course or program requirement in your curriculum. Supply chain roles involving demand planning, inventory analysis, network design, or logistics modeling routinely qualify. Your DSO reviews the job description against your academic program, so ask them to confirm the fit before you accept an offer. Vague titles like 'operations intern' without a documented analytical function may get flagged.
Can I work full-time in a supply chain CPT role during the semester?
Full-time CPT during the academic term requires explicit DSO approval and typically must be tied to a thesis, dissertation, or a program that requires it. Most F-1 students on CPT during the semester work part-time, up to 20 hours per week. Full-time CPT is more common during summer. Critically, any full-time CPT accumulation toward 12 months eliminates OPT eligibility, so track that total carefully.
How do I find supply chain employers that are set up to hire CPT students?
Search Migrate Mate for supply chain optimization roles filtered for employers with Labor Condition Application filing history. That history indicates the employer already has processes in place to verify and onboard international workers. Manufacturers, third-party logistics providers, and retail companies with active U.S. operations tend to hire CPT students for rotational or project-based supply chain roles most frequently.
What documentation does my DSO need to authorize CPT for a supply chain job?
Your DSO typically requires a written job offer or internship agreement naming the employer, your role, start and end dates, hours per week, and the specific supply chain function involved. Many DSOs also ask you to complete a CPT request form and submit a brief statement explaining how the position integrates with a specific course or degree requirement. Get the offer in writing before initiating the DSO authorization process.
Does CPT authorization cover supply chain optimization roles at remote or hybrid employers?
CPT authorization is tied to your enrollment at your U.S. school, not to the employer's physical location. Remote and hybrid supply chain roles can qualify, but your DSO still needs to verify that the work is an integral part of your curriculum. Some schools have location-specific policies, so confirm with your DSO whether a fully remote employer in a different state affects your CPT eligibility before accepting.
