Does The Trade Desk hire F-1 students on CPT?
The Trade Desk has posted internship and co-op roles that F-1 students have completed on CPT, particularly in software engineering, data science, and programmatic advertising analytics. You'll need a CPT-authorized I-20 before your start date, and the role must be directly related to your enrolled degree program. Browse current openings on Migrate Mate to find positions that match your CPT authorization.
What degree programs qualify for CPT at The Trade Desk?
CPT authorization depends on your school's curriculum requirements, not a fixed list of majors. The Trade Desk roles in engineering, data science, and media analytics most commonly align with computer science, information systems, statistics, and marketing analytics programs. Your DSO determines whether a specific job description constitutes an integral part of your coursework, so bring the actual offer letter or job posting to that conversation.
Can I do full-time CPT at The Trade Desk and still keep my OPT?
Full-time CPT totaling 12 months or more cancels your OPT eligibility entirely under USCIS regulations. Part-time CPT (under 20 hours per week) does not affect OPT, regardless of how many months you work. If you're planning to use OPT after graduation, keep your total full-time CPT below 12 months across all employers, including any prior CPT authorizations from previous programs or universities.
How far in advance should I get CPT authorized for a Trade Desk internship?
Most DSOs require at least two to four weeks to process a CPT authorization request, and some schools require department chair approval before the DSO signs off. Start the process the moment you receive a conditional offer, not after you've signed. The Trade Desk's recruiting cycle for summer internships often closes in February, so late CPT requests in April or May create real start-date risk.
Does The Trade Desk's CPT internship count toward H-1B sponsorship later?
CPT itself doesn't trigger or count toward H-1B visa sponsorship, but internship experience at The Trade Desk strengthens a future H-1B petition by demonstrating role-specific expertise in a specialty occupation. The Trade Desk roles in programmatic platforms, data engineering, and advertising technology map to occupation codes that typically satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements. Use O*NET to confirm your target role's degree requirements before applying.
