An OTC Driver contributes to AHF's mission by presenting a friendly, helpful face to donors, patrons and co-workers.
Within their duties of picking up donations and unloading merchandise to the stores, Driver can contribute to the organization by demonstrating exceptional driving skills with a focus on safety and being punctual. The Driver can enhance the donation experience by being professional, courteous, and presentable at all times.
The Driver adds consistent value to the OTC by providing exceptional teamwork, communication skills and willingness to adapt to various situations with ease.
Requirements: must have box truck driving experience or similar vehicle size

Does a Driver role qualify for CPT authorization?
It depends on your degree program. Driver positions in logistics, transportation management, or supply chain programs typically qualify because the work directly develops curriculum-relevant skills. Your DSO makes the final determination based on how the role connects to your specific coursework. A generic driving job with no academic link won't meet the CPT integral-part-of-curriculum standard.
Can I drive for a rideshare or gig platform on CPT?
Gig platform arrangements are high-risk for CPT students. CPT requires an employer-employee relationship with a specific company your DSO authorizes on your I-20. Independent contractor arrangements through gig platforms generally don't satisfy that requirement. Your DSO must list the specific employer, and gig platforms typically classify workers as independent contractors, which creates a CPT compliance problem.
What documents do I need before starting a CPT Driver job?
You need an updated I-20 with your CPT employer's name, the authorized start and end dates, and your DSO's signature before your first day. Your employer will also need to complete Form I-9 and verify your documents. Never begin driving for an employer until your I-20 reflects that specific authorization, not just a general CPT approval.
How do I find Driver employers familiar with CPT?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point for F-1 students because it surfaces employers with work authorization experience. Beyond that, focus on mid-size logistics firms, university transportation departments, and airport ground services companies, which tend to have HR teams experienced with international student hiring and I-20 paperwork rather than individual owner-operators.
Does a Driver CPT job affect my OPT or H-1B options later?
Full-time CPT lasting 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility, so tracking your cumulative full-time CPT usage is critical. Part-time CPT of any duration doesn't affect OPT. Driver roles themselves don't disqualify you from H-1B later, but H-1B specialty occupation requirements typically favor degree-dependent roles, so your long-term visa strategy should account for that distinction.
