You may not have heard of Renuity - yet - but we're already in neighborhoods nationwide. Renuity is the 5th largest home remodeling company in the US, operating in 40 states with nearly 4,000 employees. We just haven't had the national brand to match the scale of our local teams.
That's what we're building now. We're in the midst of a major brand transformation: bringing our businesses around the country together under the Renuity name while evolving our positioning, messaging, visual identity, and creative expression for the next chapter of the brand. At the same time, we're building a more integrated, full-funnel approach to marketing and the creative capability to support it.
For the right creative leader, that means a rare opportunity: not simply to steward an established brand, but to help shape what a national brand becomes.
As Creative Director, you'll be one of the people defining that next chapter. You'll help translate our evolving brand strategy into a new, distinctive creative expression, set the creative vision and quality bar across the business, and build the capability to deliver against it. You'll move fluidly between the big idea and the details that bring it to life. You'll lead work across design, copy, video, photography, motion, and digital experiences - turning strategy into ideas and ideas into connected experiences across the customer journey.
This is a builder role for someone who sees a blank canvas as an opportunity. You'll inherit a business with significant scale, an ambitious brand transformation underway, and the chance to materially influence how millions of homeowners come to know Renuity.
Just as importantly, you'll help us build Renuity's creative capability. You'll have the opportunity to shape the standards, process, partnerships, and talent model behind it. You should be energized by an environment where you'll need to determine when to make, direct, delegate, systematize, or bring in outside expertise. We're looking for a Creative Director with exceptional visual judgment, and a strong foundation in design or art direction who is still willing to get into the work. This is not a role for someone who wants to manage a large creative department from a distance. You'll set the creative bar, but you'll also roll up your sleeves when the work calls for it.
What You'll Do:
Set the creative vision and quality bar: Define what excellent, distinctly Renuity creative looks like and ensure work across channels and disciplines lives up to that standard.
Turn strategy into ideas: Partner closely with Brand & Communications, Divisions, and channel teams to translate business objectives, audience insights, and communications strategies into powerful creative platforms and campaign concepts.
Lead integrated creative development: Own creative from brief through concept and execution, ensuring ideas work cohesively across paid media, social, web, lifecycle, experiential, print, and other customer touchpoints.
Direct across disciplines: Provide creative leadership across design, copy, video, photography, motion, and digital experiences, bringing the right specialists together around a unified idea.
Stay close to the craft: Personally contribute to concept development, art direction, and high-priority creative work when your expertise can materially elevate the output.
Lead agency and external creative partners: Brief, direct, and evaluate agencies, freelancers, production partners, and specialist resources, ensuring external work feels as connected to Renuity as work created internally.
Build for both brand and performance: Develop creative that strengthens long-term brand equity while supporting measurable business outcomes, using customer insights, testing, and performance data to make the work more effective over time.
Creative a scalable creative model: Help determine which capabilities should live internally, which are best handled externally and where systems, templates, or technology can make the organization faster and more effective.
Strengthen creative operations: Establish effective approaches to briefing, concept development, review, feedback, approvals, and asset management in partnership with marketing operations/project management.
Build Renuity's creative ecosystem: Help strengthen our visual identity, campaign systems, photography and video libraries, templates, guidelines, and other foundational creative assets.
Develop creative talent: Direct, mentor, and raise the capabilities of internal creative team members while helping define the talent Renuity will need as the function evolves.
Champion the work: Present creative thinking clearly and persuasively to senior stakeholders, navigating feedback while protecting the strength and integrity of the brand.
What You'll Bring:
12+ years of experience in design, art direction, and creative development, ideally across agency and/or sophisticated in-house brand environments
A portfolio of demonstrating exceptional design craft, art direction, and conceptual thinking across a range of channels and formats
Deep expertise in graphic design, typography, composition, visual systems, and brand expression
Demonstrated ability to take an idea beyond a single execution and build an integrated visual system around it
Experience art directing photography, video, and/or motion and working effectively with specialists in those disciplines
Experience collaborating with writers and contributing meaningfully to multidisciplinary campaign concepts
Experience directing or mentoring designers and providing actionable feedback that makes work materially better
Ability and desire to remain hands-on while simultaneously providing creative leadership to others
Strong understanding of brand systems and the judgment to know when consistency matters and when the brand should stretch
Experience working with agencies, freelancers, photographers, filmmakers, and other external partners
Comfort operating in a lean, fast-moving environment with significant creative volume and evolving processes
Curiosity about creative effectiveness and willingness to use customer insights, testing, and performance data to improve work
Strong presentation and communication skills

Creative Director Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a creative director in North Carolina?
Creative directing in North Carolina requires no state-issued license or board credential. The standard path is a bachelor's degree in graphic design, advertising, or communications from a North Carolina institution such as NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, or Appalachian State, followed by progressive agency or in-house experience building to a senior creative or art director role. A strong portfolio of brand and campaign work carries more weight than any single credential when competing for director-level positions here.
How much do creative directors make in North Carolina?
Creative directors in North Carolina earn a median of about $90,000 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $56,460 for the lowest 10% to over $142,740 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire creative directors in North Carolina?
Employers hiring creative directors in North Carolina right now include MrBeast, Merge, and Renuity, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. North Carolina's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in Charlotte and major research and technology employers in the Research Triangle means both corporate in-house teams and agency partners generate consistent director-level openings throughout the year.
Which North Carolina cities have the most creative director jobs?
Raleigh, Greenville, and North Carolina account for the most creative director openings in North Carolina. Charlotte leads because of its density of financial services headquarters, retail brands, and large in-house creative departments, while Raleigh and Durham draw openings from the Research Triangle's technology, life sciences, and university sectors, and their surrounding suburban corridors where agency studios and media companies have expanded.
Are there remote creative director jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 60% of creative director openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the role's heavy reliance on digital tools and distributed creative collaboration. Strategic and conceptual work, including brand governance, campaign oversight, and creative reviews, translates well to remote formats, while roles tied to physical production, photography, or on-site brand activation tend to require in-office or on-location presence.
How can I get hired as a creative director in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is building to the title from a senior designer, art director, or copywriter role rather than applying directly. Charlotte and Raleigh agencies, along with in-house teams at companies like Red Ventures and SAS Institute, regularly hire associate creative directors or senior creatives who take on leadership responsibilities before earning the full title. A portfolio demonstrating campaign concepting and team collaboration, even from freelance or agency internship work done at North Carolina schools with strong design programs, is the practical credential that opens the door.
Where can I find and apply to creative director jobs in North Carolina?
You can find and apply to creative director jobs in North Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and target market, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
