Creative Director Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a creative director in Georgia?
Becoming a creative director in Georgia does not require a state-issued license, but the path is well defined. Most hiring managers expect a bachelor's degree in graphic design, advertising, or a related field, followed by progressive agency or in-house experience. Georgia's large advertising community in Atlanta, anchored by agency clusters in Midtown and Buckhead, offers the clearest ladder from junior designer or copywriter through art director to creative director.
How much do creative directors make in Georgia?
Creative directors in Georgia earn a median of about $110,430 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $49,990 for the lowest 10% to over $198,360 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire creative directors in Georgia?
Employers hiring creative directors in Georgia right now include Granum, Cortland, and Status Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's mix of Fortune 500 headquarters, major sports franchises, and a growing tech sector means in-house creative leadership roles appear alongside traditional agency positions throughout the state.
Which Georgia cities have the most creative director jobs?
Atlanta, Norcross, and Dawsonville have the most creative director openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates because it is home to the majority of the state's agency headquarters, corporate marketing departments, and entertainment studios, while Savannah draws openings tied to its design community and growing film industry, and Athens benefits from its university presence and the regional brands it attracts.
Are there remote creative director jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 60% of creative director openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and collaborative-software nature of the work. Campaign concepting, brand strategy oversight, and digital content direction are the functions most frequently offered with location flexibility, while roles tied to photo or video production typically require an on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a creative director in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an art director or senior designer role at one of Atlanta's mid-size agencies or at an in-house brand team, then building toward a leadership title. Georgia employers including Cox Media Group and Publicis-affiliated Atlanta agencies hire junior creatives and promote from within. A strong portfolio that includes campaign concepting, not just execution, and any experience managing even a small project or freelancer, accelerates the move into a director-level role.
Where can I find and apply to creative director jobs in Georgia?
