Media Director Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a media director in Georgia?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a media director in Georgia. The typical path begins with a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field, followed by several years in roles such as media planner, account manager, or creative lead. Georgia's deep advertising and entertainment ecosystem, centered in Atlanta, offers progression through agencies, broadcasters, and corporate marketing departments into director-level leadership.
How much do media directors make in Georgia?
Media directors in Georgia earn a median of about $79,950 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $50,540 for the lowest 10% to over $168,740 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire media directors in Georgia?
Employers hiring media directors in Georgia right now include Mastercard, UCB, and IQVIA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of major broadcasters, advertising agencies, and Fortune 500 corporate communications teams creates consistent demand for experienced media leadership throughout the year.
Which Georgia cities have the most media director jobs?
Atlanta, Augusta, and Decatur have the most media director openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates because it is home to major broadcast networks, national advertising agencies, and large corporate headquarters, while Savannah's growing creative sector and Augusta's expanding healthcare and defense communications markets drive openings outside the metro core.
Are there remote media director jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than many comparable senior roles. About 75% of media director openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the role involves strategy, vendor oversight, and campaign planning that can be done off-site. Campaign execution that requires on-site production or studio coordination tends to remain in-person.
How can I get hired as a media director in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a media coordinator, content strategist, or junior account manager role at an Atlanta-based agency or corporate marketing department. Large Georgia employers such as Cox Enterprises and WB Discovery offer structured associate programs and rotational opportunities. Building a portfolio of measurable campaign results and earning a Google Analytics or Meta Blueprint certification gives candidates with limited experience a concrete edge over others at the same level.
